Historia
Called Out is a deeply personal book from Paula Faris, the beloved on-air reporter for ABC News and former co-host of The View. She shares her journey through conquering fears that nearly kept her from the high-profile, high-stakes world of broadcast journalism, and then the dangers when that world threatened to consume her. She burned out and faced public humiliation, physical breakdowns, and family struggles. But along the way, she heard God gently calling her out of that dangerous place.

interesting insight
Revisado: 08-19-24
Good story with an uplifting message.
I suppose my expectations were out of alignment because I thought I would learn more about how she transitioned, a little less about why. I am in my personal 'worse year' but I need insurance that my vocational calling provides. My hopes were focused on how to juggle needs when leaping to the new without sacrificing sleep. Perhaps the denial of my request is the answer.
At any rate, this is a good motivational book, I am grateful for being able to have experienced her story, and I would (& have) recommend it to others.

Historia
Join David as he encounters his eccentric Aunt Betsey, faithful Peggotty and the villainous Uriah Heep, and as he falls in love with Little Em'ly, Dora and Agnes. And then there is old school friend James Steerforth: dashing, daring and seductive. This dramatisation explores the complexities and intimacies of that relationship beyond anything possible in Dickens' day, in an adaptation giving fresh life and vividness to this beloved tale.

The performances were excellent!
the voice infections, along with background sound effects were exceptional & I was able to picture it all in my mind. I think I enjoyed this more than watching a movie.

Historia
After getting a master’s degree in clinical psychology, Dasha Kiper became the live-in caregiver for a Holocaust survivor with Alzheimer’s disease. For a year, she endured the emotional strain of looking after a person whose condition disrupts the rules of time, order, and continuity. Inspired by her own experience and her work counseling caregivers in the subsequent decade, Kiper offers an entirely new way to understand the symbiotic relationship between patients and those tending to them.

So Helpful - Must Read
Revisado: 01-04-24
as a caregiver to a loved one with dementia this book was a game changer! The stories & lessons learned accurately reflect my daily life with a person incapable of admitting & remembering he has dementia. This book gave me permission to be ok with bad days. The permission I need to accept his idiosyncrasies as part of the disease and not him being difficult or hateful.
I cried in a healing way, and it is helping me be a better caregiver.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

excellent story!
Revisado: 12-21-23
This book was recommended to me by one of my Baby-Boomer professional mentors. I always knew I was standing on the shoulders of giants, but this story really allowed me to comprehend the depth of the struggle women have had to work through to succeed in their careers. I am buying copies as Christmas /Thank you Gifts to the other women in my office who I thought about while reading this book.

Have you ever had a goodbye lasting more than four hours? Do you lack the emotional capacity to say “I love you” so you just tell your loved ones to “watch out for deer”? Have you apologized to a stranger because she stepped on your foot? If you answered yes to any of these questions, there’s a good chance you’re a Midwesterner - or a Midwesterner at heart.

Thank You, David Goggins for sharing your story, your wisdom, & your vulnerability. Through your words I have learned more about myself than a year of counseling could have provided. I especially appreciate the challenges at the end of each chapter.

couldn't finish it
Revisado: 12-23-20
I think the story might be ok. I am not sure b/c I couldn't listen to another moment once I got to chapter 25. There was just something off about the narration. The cadence was off, and there was something about the pitch of the voices that made all the characters sound like pretentious goodie-two-shoes.
