As portrayed by Robert Young, the title character of Jim Anderson is a successful insurance salesman living in Springfield with his wife, Margaret (June Whitley) and their three children: Betty (Rhoda Williams), Bud (Ted Donaldson), and Kathy (Norma Jean Nilsson). Jim is ambitious, likeable, and a good provider for his family - though he often grows exasperated by the turmoil of his everyday home life.

Father Knows Best was a situation comedy built around the Anderson family and life on Maple Street in the fictitious Midwestern town of Springfield. Robert Young starred as Jim Anderson, head of the household, husband of Margaret, and an insurance man by occupation. The couple had three children. The weekly radio script, although played for laughs, offered words of wisdom and “recipes for domestic happiness” that American families could identify with. Jim’s understanding wife Margaret was the picture of domesticity as mother to Betty (aged 18), Bud (16), and Kathy (10).

The Hardy Boys are elated over their good luck when wealthy Elroy Jefferson invites them to spend Christmas vacation at his private retreat on Cabin Island. But when Frank and Joe make a reconnaissance trip in their iceboat, The Sea Gull to the island, a belligerent stranger orders them off. Why?

When the Hardy Boys set out to solve the mystery of their missing chums, they discover a gang hide-out in a cave on an island along the way.

Determined to learn the secret of the old mill, Frank and Joe employ a clever use to gain entrance and become trapped. There they unravel two mysteries, one involving a counterfeiting case and the other, a national security case their father is working on.

Triggered by the disappearance of a brilliant young professor, this mystery takes the Hardy Boys first to Kenworthy College, where they find a puzzling message on an examination paper. But then their pal Chet Morton and buddy Biff Hooper turn up a clue that sends the young detectives in another direction, to the Honeycomb Caves.

When the Hardy boys eagerly agree to assist their friend Jack Dodd and his father in locating a family treasure, the two young detectives are unaware of the baffling complications that will arise.

Frank and Joe Hardy receive an unusual assignment from their detective father. They are to "break into" the house of a Bayport neighbor, Malcolm Wright and retrieve a top-secret invention that the scientist had hidden in his study before leaving for California. The invention is in danger of being stolen and the boys race against time to beat the thieves at their own game. The young detectives soon discover that they are involved in a mystery far greater in scope than just retrieving the invention.

Valuable electronic parts containing platinum are being stolen from shipments made by Stanwide Mining Equipment Company's cargo planes and Frank and Joe Hardy are called upon to assist their world-renowned detective father solve the baffling case. At Stanwide, the boys pose as employees and become suspicious of their boss's hostility towards them. Is he involved in the racket? And what is the truth behind the plane crash at sea in which Clint Hill, chief pilot for Stanwide was killed?

Everyone in Bayport can't wait for the biggest event of the season: the premiere of G-Force - the newest ride by the world-renowned Piperato Brothers. Their creation is going to change the fortunes of Funsport, Bayport's small and recently run-down amusement park. Frank and Joe are friends with Daisy Rodriguez, the owner's daughter, and are first in line for the ride's launch. Purple lights click off, a huge whoosh emanates from the floor, loud music pulses....
