Historia
With extraordinary access to the West Wing, Michael Wolff reveals what happened behind-the-scenes in the first nine months of the most controversial presidency of our time in Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House. Since Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, the country—and the world—has witnessed a stormy, outrageous, and absolutely mesmerizing presidential term that reflects the volatility and fierceness of the man elected Commander-in-Chief.

almost but not quite
Revisado: 11-25-15
what would be an excellent collection or at least a very good collection is ruined by the longest, main story the Windigo where the narration is interspersed with voices that are so annoying and so rivaling and inappropriate that there is no way to listen to the story the wind to go to not even be tried. As for the other stories 5 repeats of very commonly anthologized stories once again reduce the appeal of this collection where are the narration is generally quite good though even when it doesn't have the weird psychotic voice as in the wind ago it still does become quite boring as if the reader is not really paying attention to what he is reading

In Foundation the chronicler of London and of its river, the Thames, takes us from the primeval forests of England's prehistory to the death of the first Tudor king, Henry VII, in 1509. He guides us from the building of Stonehenge to the founding of the two great glories of medieval England: common law and the cathedrals. He shows us glimpses of the country's most distant past - a Neolithic stirrup found in a grave, a Roman fort, a Saxon tomb, a medieval manor house.

Historia
Ghost stories date back centuries, but those written in the Victorian era have a unique atmosphere and dark beauty. Michael Sims, whose previous Victorian collections Dracula’s Guest (vampires) and The Dead Witness (detectives) have been widely praised, has gathered twelve of the best stories about humanity’s oldest supernatural obsession. The Phantom Coach includes tales by a surprising and often legendary cast, including Charles Dickens, Margaret Oliphant, Henry James, Rudyard Kipling, and Arthur Conan Doyle, as well as lost gems by forgotten masters such as Mary E. Wilkins Freeman and W. F. Harvey. Amelia B. Edwards’s chilling story gives the collection its title, while Ambrose Bierce ("The Moonlit Road"), Elizabeth Gaskell ("The Old Nurse’s Story"), and W. W. Jacobs ("The Monkey’s Paw") will turn you white as a sheet. With a skillful introduction to the genre and notes on each story by Sims, The Phantom Coach is a spectacular collection of ghostly Victorian thrills.

Historia
Initially, the Thirty Years War was precipitated in 1618 by religious conflicts between Protestants and Catholics in the Holy Roman Empire. But the conflict soon spread beyond religion to encompass the internal politics and balance of power within the Empire, and then later to the other European powers. By the end, it became simply a dynastic struggle between Bourbon France and Habsburg Spain. And almost all of it was fought out in Germany. Entire regions were depopulated and destroyed.

There have been many invasion threats to Britain. This programme dramatises one of the most potent: the mighty Armada sent by Philip of Spain against the navy of Elizabeth I and her sea captains, led by Sir Francis Drake. This is a crucial narrative of stirring history, relived with verve and freshness.

history as entertainment
Revisado: 11-16-15
I would like the dramatization more if the propaganda was muted slightly, the presentation less chauvinistic and facts respected. For instance, to say there were no English casualties is to ignore the huge mortality rate of the English soldiers, of whom half died of disease made worse by poor supplies and little food, during the mobilization. So many sailors perished during 1688 that England would have been incapable of further defense had it been necessary. Certainly, there were no sailors to man over half the vessels the crown requisitioned.

Sad Clown
Revisado: 11-11-15
This poor uncharismatic women comes across as a squawkingly brainless air-head with her vapid, annoying American housewife voice and superficial, disqualifying nonsense of humor. No matter how solid her scholarly authority is (and to me it is only satisfactory, on a high school level), she undermines any academic legitimacy or popular appeal with butterfly frivolity, incoherence and stupid, insecure attempts at being cute. The first eight lessons are enough to stifle anyone's interest (there is some improvement after), she repeats herself, including painful jokes, and presents examples and illustration with clumsy ineptness. There should be more and better spoken clips, and they need more vivid analysis. Though she is qualified in her field, she murders the subject. Slow down, don't try to be funny, stop giggling, and go into greater depth in at least a few aspects of sociolinguistics.
