Historia
"Searingly honest, brilliant and disturbing. Brad Phillips peels back the skin and bone and stares right into the human soul." (Anthony Bourdain) Brad Phillips' collection of short stories adeptly walks a very thin line between taboo and propriety, with rigorous self-awareness and generosity. By confusing ideas around fiction and autobiography, Phillips writes with painful sincerity about shame, addiction, trauma, and the more troubling outreaches of sexual desire, with wit that is at odds with the subject matter. Brad Phillips is a well-known Canadian artist.

I read it, then I heard it.

A masterpiece of writing, it’s read in a way that is so fulfilling. The pace of this book made me fell anxious and put me in a place somewhere between tranced and startled. I walked around my town while I listened. I just loved taking this in.

A tool to help you become an “accomplice” for BLM!

Stating with a letter to his 8 year old baby brother, this book is one of the best I have read regarding white fragility and the ways we unknowingly and blatantly support racism. A brilliant man and a terrific writer. Frederick Joseph is someone I think you must pay attention to. The Black Friend is candid and confronting, I am so glad to have found this mirror and having it held in front of me. I will listen to this again!!
