Historia
Lauren is downtown Chicago's youngest elite realtor. She's also a witch. She must be - the fetching spell for Witches' Chat isn't supposed to make mistakes. So says the woman who coded the spell, at least. The tall, dark, and handsome guy sent to assess her is a witch too (and no, that doesn't end the way you might think). What he finds in Lauren will change lives, mess with a perfectly good career, and require lots of ice cream therapy.

Between Deborah Geary and Molly Harper I may...
Revisado: 05-20-13
I may end up losing my man card. Deborah seems to have developed a habit of writing heart warming fictions with characters that I really grow to love. If you see me listening to something and a slight glint is in the corner of my eye, please just assume that its sun glare. I know I'm in a dim lit room, but damn it just because a book is sweet and heart warming does not mean I should end up like a kid watching E.T. for the first time.
Anyway Deborah's books are excellent and Martha Harmon Pardee is the perfect narrator to bring out the heart of these books. I only hope that Deborah becomes popular enough to get the rest of her Witch Central and Modern Witch books on Audible. I've already listened to the three available twice each and still the same spots got me both times through.

If it is by Molly Harper you can expect...
Revisado: 05-20-13
A fun, snarky, entertaining story. That really is the whole of it. Some of her earlier work took a little time to grow on me, but the more of her work I read and listen to the more I like her. Amanda Ronconi is excellent as usual. They are an excellent team.

Extremely well done.
Revisado: 04-09-13
The Rook really is an excellent book, and is more impressive because it is the first book in this authors stable. A lot of creative ideas and concepts came together. I look forward to the next novel... which if his website is any indication he just finished a first draft of and has sent it on to agent and editor for perusal.

Historia
Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town and a media punch line....

Ok I really like Molly Harper
Revisado: 03-23-13
I started with Molly Harper's Naked Werewolf books, and I think I have her to blame for my decent into the Paranormal Romance novels that as a guy I should probably be embarrassed to admit to enjoying. However, she has a certain style and wit that appeals to me. This is my first foray outside her Paranormal series and I have to admit to liking it as well. Despite the lack of fangs, spells, or strange diets I really seem to enjoy Molly's work. I recommend this and any other book by the author. The narrator is just about perfect for the roll. Don't be concerned about the 4 star rating, I round down and its really more like a 4.75 star, and I get tougher on the author the more I enjoy the book,

Historia
Stacy Justice is your average small-town reporter...who just so happens to be a witch. She’s never had the time or patience to mess around with the magic her grandmother and great-aunts are into, even though Grandma says Stacy has a higher calling. Right now, Stacy has stories to cover, her cousin Cinnamon’s bar to help run, and her cute cop boyfriend and flatulent Great Dane to keep her company. But when someone sets Cinnamon’s bar ablaze - almost killing Stacy in the process - the green-eyed redhead will have to embrace her inner witch after all.

There are some holes here, but decent effort
Revisado: 03-18-13
What did you like best about Opal Fire? What did you like least?
Here we have a supernatural mystery where the supernatural doesn't overwhelm the story. It gives the story a good grounding while having enough wonder at what the supernatural side of things will contribute.
On the downside the characters were a little two dimensional. There needs to be a bit more development there. The villain of the piece was a little obvious and could have been more of a surprise with a few more tweaks and less mustache twirling.
Would you be willing to try another book from Barbra Annino? Why or why not?
I've already picked up the next two in the series. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and am always looking for promising authors.
What does Amy Rubinate bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
A good narrator can make or break an audiobook. Additionally, the right narrator can really bring the characters to life. Amy R. does a good job here and I think can be safely added to the list of Narrators that I will gladly listen to.

Historia
Cameron's Law has made all supernatural creatures legal citizens, and the boy next door has suddenly become the werewolf next door. With Sadie Stanton, vampire and one of the public faces of the legislation, calling the little town of Adelheid, Connecticut, home, it can't help but be a focal point for these once-mythical beings. But when vampires start attacking werewolves without provocation, Adelheid draws the attention of those that would seek to have Cameron's Law repealed and would send the preternaturals back into the shadows they used to hide in, but without the safety of their anonymity and their law.

Weak overall
Revisado: 03-18-13
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
While the concept is interesting, it is obvious that this is a novice work. It needs a deal more polishing and a completely different narrator. I thought maybe the author did the narration and self published, but I guess not.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Needs more polish and maybe expand it out. There were no surprises and the bad guy screamed bad guy right from the get go.
How could the performance have been better?
Narrator is the equivalent of Kristen Stewart and lacks proper expression. I'm hoping it was her first attempt. She needs to step back and think more about the characters she is portraying.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
The only emotion the book evoked is a vague curiosity about how this would have turned out with a few more months of polish.
