Historia
Holly Miller doesn't believe in spirits, but the Sugar Maple Inn is filled with guests who do. The TV series in development, Apparition Apprehenders, has descended on Wagtail's annual Halloween festivities to investigate supernatural local legends, and Holly has her hands full showing the ghost hunters a scary-fun time. But the frights turn real when Holly's Jack Russell, Trixie, and kitten, Twinkletoes, find a young woman drowned in the Wagtail Springs Hotel's bathhouse.

Lighthearted read but narrator is a challenge
Revisado: 03-25-25
This series is very lighthearted. The story is cute but it’s hard to get past the narrator. She’s talented and a great fit for children’s books but the voice doesn’t fit a woman who is supposed to be around 30 years old. Sounds like 13. The main character comes off sounding whiny and bit prissy. I wish cosy writers didn’t make their female leads behave like emotional doormats. Being nice doesn’t have to mean not standing up for yourself.

Historia
Letitia Carberry, Tish to her friends, is off again on three entirely different adventures. Tish, Aggie and Lizzie, three middle-aged spinsters, are on track to create havoc wherever they go, but Tish is definitely the ringleader and leads where the other two ladies would rather not go.

Terrible narration
Revisado: 01-05-25
I would have liked to finish listening to this book, but it was impossible. The narrator is not a voice actor. They are basically reading the book out loud. It’s very hard to distinguish different characters or even concentrate on what’s being said because the style of the narration occurs at the same pace with the same tone of tone of voice.

Shocking news reaches them—an old friend has been killed, and a dangerous package he was protecting has gone missing. The gang's search leads them into the antiques business, where the tricks of the trade are as old as the objects themselves. As they encounter drug dealers, art forgers, and online fraudsters—as well as heartache close to home—Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron, and Ibrahim have no idea whom to trust.

Love these books and narrator

Another great book in the series. The narrator’s voice alone is a reason to listen. Heathcliff, pardon, Lennox is a wonderful character who is at times hilarious and at others frustrating. He matures over the course of the series. Highly recommend!

Refreshing and well written with excellent narration
Revisado: 08-13-23
I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book. The main character was a bit too helpless and old fashioned for my taste and im not very familiar with scrapbooking. But Amy McFadden’s narration was so good that I stuck with it.
The writing is excellent and as I kept reading I was happy to find the story was more complex than expected and the main character also evolved in a believable way. Her friends are also interesting characters. It grew on me so I plan to read the next one!
I have since learned the author is a scrapbooking expert and a prolific writer. I may need to check out her other series.

Another wonderful book brilliantly narrated
Revisado: 08-06-23
I love the Heathcliff Lennox books. And in Audible they are even better! The author Karen Baugh Menuhin is a talented author of mystery stories that provide drama and comedy with just a touch of romance. The character of Lennox (and many others) come to life through the incredible talent of Sam Dewhurst-Phillips. His voice is amazingly rich and deep and with a talent for comedic timing. He is dashing, kind and brave and also stubborn and impatient. His flaws make him more loving and comical. He is the perfect foil for Swift, his best friend and retired policeman from Scotland Yard, who is as disciplined and rigorous and Lennox is laid back and impulsive. The historical elements enrich the stories but you don’t need to be into historical novels to enjoy them. I cannot recommend these books enough!

Spare yourself the bother
Revisado: 04-09-23
The protagonist of the story comes off as a depressed obsessive whining woman with few redeeming qualities. The characters are underdeveloped. Dialogue is mostly internal and attempts to be funny and quirky. It doesn’t hit the mark. The narrator sounds flat and whiny despite efforts to make the most of the boring, clunky and unbelievable dialogue.
