Great introduction read
Revisado: 11-26-24
it's a great introduction read if you are getting interested in learning more about WWII. The writing style provides fast facts and general information behind the way, plus quick first hand experience stories. But the author doesn't get very deep into the details and you don't connect to people or situations the way you do with other books by the 101st airborne or Pacific theater veterans.

The peace is kept by a team of smooth, well-dressed negotiators called The Men in Fancy Suits. Meanwhile a young girl is caught in the middle and thinks the whole thing is ridiculous. Zoey, a recent college graduate with a worthless degree, makes a reluctant trip into the city after hearing that her estranged con artist father died in a mysterious yet spectacular way.

Not great. Thin and needs work.
Revisado: 07-30-24
So I bought this book because of the authors other series. First off, this is not a comedy. It has some comedic moments, but it's about a girl who suddenly inherets all the wealth in the world from her astranged birth Father in a semi dystopian future. Then, enter bounty hunters, kidnappers, cyber enhanced humans, flexible ethics businessmen, etc. End of the day, there's something here... but it needs another 6 months of work to make it a good book. The characters, plot, and rules of the world around them are thin and flexible to match the corners he writes himself into. I really want to like this book, but I think it's sub par.

poorly researched and superficial writing
Revisado: 01-13-24
I'm trying to get through this book but having trouble. The author just randomly throws things in that have no real connection to the plot but they thought sounded dramatic. Often, it is a poorly researched danger. Like when viral pneumonia hits, it is extremely contagious and all the villagers are quickly are on their death beds. Which isn't how that disease it works. Then they drink tea and everyone is fine. Which leaves you thinking... what the hell was that?

Historia
For the first time, there are five distinct generations sharing the workplace at many American companies - from Baby Boomer to Generation Z. That means an age difference of up to 60 years and a multitude of experiences and attitudes. More crucially, it means there are tremendous challenges - as well as significant opportunity - when trying to foster collaboration between these diverse groups. In this workshop, workplace culture expert (and proud Gen Xer) Jennifer Romolini examines this extraordinary phenomenon and how it has upended typical management strategies.

short, sweet, informative
Revisado: 01-09-24
great quick listen for those who want to brush up on their management style. What's nice is, she's not trying to change the world with groundbreaking brand new ideas. This book is more like listening to a friend tell you about how they manage. Personally, it helped me recognize how some elements of my style and her style have similarities. And her style gave me ideas on how to better define my style, and refine my approach in a more targeted, goal oriented way.

Sy Montgomery's popular 2011 Orion magazine piece, "Deep Intellect", about her friendship with a sensitive, sweet-natured octopus named Athena and the grief she felt at her death, went viral, indicating the widespread fascination with these mysterious, almost alien-like creatures. Since then Sy has practiced true immersion journalism, from New England aquarium tanks to the reefs of French Polynesia and the Gulf of Mexico, pursuing these wild, solitary shape-shifters.

Starts off great, then just gets boring
Revisado: 01-03-24
It started so strong and interesting about octopus in aquarium life. But eventually the writing just goes flat, using semi-topical stories and introducing stories about other people at the aquarium that honestly are more about the people, and not really about the octopus. I simply got bored and stopped reading.

Historia
It began on New Year’s Eve. The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world’s population was decimated. Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magick rose up in its place.

The Stand for tweens
Revisado: 01-02-24
The basic plot is The Stand, but watered down thinner than a homeopathic cute fur mercury retrograde, then flavored with rainbows and glitter. The world does from a mystery virus, then some people turn into fairies. Yep. So get a big glass of white wine cooler, turn on the virtual fireplace, light up some pumpkin spice candles, and enjoy.

Historia
Since his first performance at the legendary New York nightclub “Catch a Rising Star” as a 21-year-old college student in fall of 1975, Jerry Seinfeld has written his own material and saved everything. “Whenever I came up with a funny bit, whether it happened on a stage, in a conversation, or working it out on my preferred canvas, the big yellow legal pad, I kept it in one of those old school accordion folders,” Seinfeld writes. “So I have everything I thought was worth saving from 45 years of hacking away at this for all I was worth.”

No story. A bunch of jokes
Revisado: 12-02-23
there's almost no story in the book, which is why I purchased it. the jokes were a series of two liners in classic Jerry style. which made me laugh and I enjoyed. but I honestly was looking for more story and behind the scenes and a book about Jerry.

bring back Stephen Fry
Revisado: 06-21-23
I love Martin Freeman, but I didn't like his interpretation of the book. He is on point with his voices in consistent and style, but unfortunately the voices he picked don't match up to the characters. I found it very hard to keep listing and stay intrigued. I miss Stephen Fry.

Hooked for first 3/4, then it goes astray
Revisado: 06-15-23
the first 3/4 of the book was very engaging with great character development and story development. Then suddenly major characters vanish and other minor characters become overly complex and pivotal to the story. It felt like he wrote a book, and remembered a plot twist he forgot to include. So it was very disconnected to the story and felt crammed into the end.
