Truly Enjoyed
Revisado: 06-10-20
This is my favorite genre, especially British DI series. Rachel Lynch is a new author to me and look forward to “reading” next installment. Agree with some reviewers that you had to pay attention to keep characters straight in beginning, but disagree with reviewers who are horrified with graphic violence. Of course any violence totally unacceptable and hard to listen to, but sadly, it’s part of the fabric in underbelly of our societies. I felt this author’s depiction of violence was not gratuitous, and contributed to story and character development. Clare Kissane a new narrator to me and also excellent. Highly Recommend🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Found this book very clever and engaging. Story unfolds from two different voices and viewpoints which keeps you guessing throughout. I felt the ending was slightly abrupt but still loved. Narrators excellent🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Love this Author
Revisado: 04-29-20
This a new author to me and read The Stranger’s Wife first, but then went back and read her first two books Black Heart and Couple on Cedar Close. Listening to these books and getting to know Detective Dan Riley was a very entertaining and heartwarming journey. Especially enjoyed the detective’s very dry, sharp wit and keen insight into those around him, in and outside the office. Narration is outstanding. Several other reviewers said they could figure out “who done it” early in book, as did I, but who cares when story and narration otherwise so perfect. Will definitely look forward to more chapters in Det Riley’s life. If you like British murder mysteries as I do, most HIGHLY RECOMMEND this series🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The first time Jemma and Matt were invited to Polskirrin - the imposing ocean-view home belonging to Matt’s childhood friend Lucas Jarrett - it was for an intimate wedding that ended in tragedy. Jemma will never forget the sight of the girl’s pale body floating listlessly towards the rocky shore. Now, exactly one year later, Jemma and her husband have reluctantly returned at Lucas’s request to honor the anniversary of an event they would do anything to forget.

Disappointing
Revisado: 04-22-20
Having listened to seven Rachel Abbott audios in last several weeks, was looking forward to release of The Invitation. I didn’t listen to Only the Innocent due to negative reviews, especially narrator which is a deal breaker for me. Just finished The Invitation and, with exception of outstanding performance of narrator, kept waiting to care about these characters and be truly curious why slight hysteria surrounding everyone’s behavior and emotional state. That never happened. Entire storyline and plot development is too contrived. I so enjoyed getting to know DCI Tom Douglas in earlier Rachel Abbott books, but the inspectors in current release have no personality so I didn’t care about them either! I listen to probably 2-3 audios per week and perhaps even more during current challenge of sheltering at home. Certainly would read another Rachel Abbott book, but perhaps will not jump on a new release. Will wait until some credible reviews are available.

Intriguingly Weird
Revisado: 02-24-20
I don’t write a huge amount of reviews, but wanted to make a few observations about The Liars because 1) could not stop listening and 2) could not quite figure out who was doing what and to whom. The grainy characters are a mixture of brilliance, madness, deception, stupidity and humor. It is clear that this is a first in a series and will look forward to next installment. Narrator is excellent.

Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. She's charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual. Trapped in a shared office together 40 (ok, 50 or 60) hours a week, they've become entrenched in an addictive, ridiculous never-ending game of one-upmanship.

Fun Listen!
Revisado: 02-19-20
This is very unlike my go-to genre, but in a nod to Valentine’s Day, decided to give it a go. Thoroughly enjoyed! Felt story dragged a bit near the end, but mostly because I was anxious to know what happens. Narrator nailed the nuanced cleverness of writing with fun female inflection. Yes, perfect choice to celebrate a Day of Love💞 Highly Recommend🌟

Historia
William Warwick has always wanted to be a detective, and decides, much to his father’s dismay, that rather than become a lawyer like his father, Sir Julian Warwick QC, and his sister, Grace, he will join London’s Metropolitan Police Force. After graduating from university, William begins a career that will define his life: from his early months on the beat under the watchful eye of his first mentor, Constable Fred Yates, to his first high-stakes case as a fledgling detective in Scotland Yard’s arts and antiquities squad.

Revisado: 01-02-20
This is first time I’ve “read” this author, and despite the challenges experienced by main character (don’t want to give anything away so wording carefully), I feel author presented Ellie’s life with well-researched delicacy and sensitivity. We have had similar challenges in our own family and can identify with story. Narrator is superb, expertly changing inflections with various characters. Highly recommend this compelling book🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

John Marrs superb story teller and Good Samaritan no exception. This is very dark psychological profile of deeply disturbed woman...not my go-to feel good storyline. However, this is excellent narration and well constructed. Couldn’t stop listening.
