Historia
The Reaper is a legend, more myth than man: the savior of worlds, the leader of the Rising, the breaker of chains. But the Reaper is also Darrow, born of the red soil of Mars: a husband, a father, a friend. The worlds once needed the Reaper. But now they need Darrow. Because after the dark age will come a new age: of light, of victory, of hope.

narrator and story
Revisado: 03-24-25
ok, so I listened to all 6 book in 7 days, only stopping to sleep, and by the 4th book the story began to invade my dream. Reynold's narration and Brown's story telling draw you in so deeply that it is hard ti escape. By the end of Light Bringer I was so entranced I felt like I was no longer a part of the world outside the story. I looked around my world wondering what I was going to do with myself for the next year while I waited for the 7th and final book to come out. I wish they would make a Game of Thrones type series out of it and an Elder Scrolls type video game out of these novels.

Historia
Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations. Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children. But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet.

Everything!
Revisado: 03-11-25
WOW! That was powerful! The narrator turned a enthralling story into a one man play that had me hooked from his very first words. Tears rolling down my face, fists clenched in anger, a rage building inside of me as I thought of my inaction over the injustice in our own world as we hurtle head long into the future this book describes. Please give this to Apple to make a series out of, they are the only ones who can do justice to this story.

Narrator
Revisado: 03-03-25
I started another reading of the first three books in the series but, having been in love with Deja Thoris since I was but ten years old, some 50 odd years ago, i was mortified when the narrator, whose voice was not manly enough to fit that of John Carter, literally butchered my princess's voice, making her sound like an old crone. So I stopped the book immediately, not wanting to ruin the image of my princess that I had held dear since I was a boy. Fortunately I found this reading, and while the narrator's voice didn't fit that of Deja Thoris either, he did not attempt to, he spoke as if John Carter was relating the tale of his time on Barsoom, and simply telling us what his, and my love, was saying.

Historia
What makes us moral beings? How do we decide what is good and what is evil? And has it always been that way? Hanno Sauer's sweeping new history of humanity, covering five million years of our universal moral values, comes at a crucial moment of crisis for those values, and helps to explain how they arose—and why we need them. Modern societies are in crisis: a shared universal morality seems to be a thing of the past. Hanno Sauer explains why this appearance is deceptive: in fact, there are universal values that all people share.

the sheer scope of the book.

Brilliant! I was captivated from beginning to end. The authors style of writing was poetic, but detailed and scientific. The narrator was fantastic. it was a joy to listen to and I feel I came away enlightened and Informed.

Historia
Contrary to the teachings of the church today, in the first several centuries of Christianity’s existence, there was no consensus as to who Jesus was or why he had mattered. Instead, there were many different Christs. One had a twin brother and traveled to India; another consorted with dragons. One particularly terrifying Christ scorned his parents and killed those who opposed him.

Excellent
Revisado: 02-14-25
Not only is the book itself fascinating, informative and enlightening, the narration is superb. I could listen to Lalla Ward read the back of a cereal box and I would be captivated. So many narrators on here do not have the voice for the job and read in a monotone voice, Lalla, on the other hand, narrates with the expressiveness of a mother reading The Wind in the Willows to her children. I barely finished listening to the final chapter before starting it over again, while at the same time looking for other books written by Catherine Nixey and other books narrated by Lalla Ward. I highly recommend this book to everyone, especially those who wish to be enlightened as to the truth behind the history of Christianity. With our current president looking like he might just reinstate ancient heresy laws, this book is a must read.

Historia
Let’s talk about secession. Not exactly the most suitable cocktail party conversation starter anywhere in the country, but take that notion deep into the heart of Dixie and you might find yourself running from the possum-hunting conservatives, trailer-park lifers, and prayer warriors Chuck Thompson encountered during the two years he spent traveling the American South asking the question: Would we be better off without ’em?

A must "listen to" for anyone who ever wished we would have just let the South secede 150 years ago.
