Historia
What does everyone in the modern world need to know? Renowned psychologist Jordan B. Peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research. Humorous, surprising, and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street.

Wonderful advice, Very thoughtful
Revisado: 06-30-22
I really appreciate Peterson's perspective on the topics in this book, though I imagine it may be a bit frank or even brutal for some people to hear. If you want to live a life with open and honest eyes, however, you can't mask your experiences with any sort of passive or enabling narrative. This book will help you understand why seriously considering not only the likely results of your behavior but the full potential of them is vastly important. Some parts get a little muddy and perhaps not as eloquent as others, but continuing to listen closely is an opportunity to practice one of the rules discussed.

Historia
The monsters live inside of Kate Woodson. Chronic pain and a host of autoimmune diseases have robbed her of a normal, happy life. Her husband Andrew's surprise of their dream Maine lake cottage for the summer is the gift of a lifetime. It's beautiful, remote, idyllic, a place to heal. But they are not alone. Something is in the woods, screeching in the darkness, banging on the house, leaving animals for dead. Just like her body, Kate's cottage becomes her prison. She and Andrew must fight to survive the creature that lurks in the dead of night.

Captivating Writing, but Poor Execution
Revisado: 06-11-22
This story was very interesting and I really enjoyed the writing style and narration, but I feel like the story got sluggish in a few places and interrupted the pace. There's also some aspects / details regarding the overall theme or explanation that got me hung up and will also be the reason I don't listen again. Nonetheless, it's nice to see new, quality monster / creature feature novels coming out so if that's your thing then you'll probably enjoy.

Enjoyable & Refreshing
Revisado: 05-27-22
I wouldn't put this in the "thriller" category necessarily, but Transmission is definitely an interesting story with some callbacks to classic scifi. I find this nod to the greats, and really the genre as a whole, tasteful and refreshing given the various modern trends out there. Some of the story is predictable and sometimes oddly repetitive, but it definitely captured my imagination and even had me choosing to sit on the sofa listening with my dogs rather than playing Xbox or watching a stream service. Definitely recommend.

Historia
The secret behind France's astonishingly well-behaved children is here. When American journalist Pamela Druckerman has a baby in Paris, she doesn't aspire to become a "French parent". French parenting isn't a known thing, like French fashion or French cheese. Even French parents themselves insist they aren't doing anything special. But French children are far better behaved and more in command of themselves than American kids....

Anecdotal, but very informative
Revisado: 05-19-22
Would definitely recommend for any new parents. I see a lot of neurotic parents these days (cough, mostly mothers, cough) who tend to get lost in their own feelings or thoughts regarding their children and what they need to become healthy adults. My parents were honestly pretty simple, much like the advice in this book, and out of six kids I'd say half of us turned quite exceptional. Yes, parenting might be scary, but it's not rocket science.

Wonderful characters and gripping storyline
Revisado: 05-02-22
I love any sort of monster stories, but they're often cheesy or tropy. Not Impact Winter. The characters are wonderfully fleshed out from the beginning (probably has a lot to do with the wonderful voice acting) and the story is intriguing all the way through. There's also some interesting takes on the vampire "lore" that I thought was a good touch. Can't wait to listen to the next installment!

Pretty cool, just maybe a bit bogged down
Revisado: 04-30-22
While this is a very interesting story and I'm very excited to read the second book, it took me a little while to get into. Maybe I wasn't listening close enough, but I feel like some moments didn't surprise or intrigue me as much as they were supposed to. That being said, this book has very good characters and the audiobook is narrated very well. Like I said, I'm excited for the second book!

Entertaining & interesting, but pretty concise
Revisado: 02-21-22
Was a fun listen overall, but I feel there was a lot of head room that could've been explored with this storyline. I will say that the narration, especially with some of the sound effects added (ex. tinny voice on a telephone) was very well done. I wish more audiobooks implemented this.

He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. Absolutely wonderful, An instant classic
Revisado: 02-09-22
The characters, the adventure, the science, and the humanity: Everything in this story is completely enjoyable. There's also a kind of heart in this book that I don't see often but greatly admire and, to be honest, it's refreshing for my perspective on humanity. In terms of the audiobook format, the narration is very enjoyable as well. If you're not sciencey at all, this may not be a great choice. But if you don't mind missing a few references or concepts here and there and just want to enjoy the adventure and characters, then this is a safe bet. Overall, this is one I'm looking forward to re-listening to and gifting my kids one day.

Faster than light travel, sentient robots, superpowers, the fabric of reality, and good ol' fashion fist fights: What else could you want? Will this fiction go down as an all-time classic? Probably not. But is it entertaining and worth the listen? I'd say definitely!

Historia
In the high mountains of Tibet, rumors are spreading. People whisper of an outbreak, of thousands of dead, of bodies pushed into mass graves. It is some strange new disease...a disease, they say, that can kill in minutes. The Chinese government says the rumors aren't true, but no one is allowed in or out of Tibet. At the Pentagon, admiral James Curtiss learns that satellite images prove that a massive genocide is underway. This is no disease. It's a weapons test. Chinese scientists have developed a way to kill based on a person's genetic traits.

Revisado: 12-18-21
Really liked this one. A bit brutal in some parts with interrogation scenes, but the way it all unfolds and the general story telling style is something I really enjoyed. Only thing is maybe the ending, felt like there could have but a bit more exploration, but with this subject matter the possibilities are literally endless so I understand.
