Amelia Peabody inherited two things from her father: a considerable fortune and an unbendable will. The first allowed her to indulge in her life's passion. Without the second, the mummy's curse would have made corpses of them all.

I adore Peabody
Revisado: 05-24-14
What did you love best about Crocodile on the Sandbank?
This is the first book of a very enjoyable series. The encounters between the indomitable and highly intelligent Peabody and the opinionated and irascible Emerson are my favorite portions of the book.
What did you like best about this story?
Peabody's indomitable spirit, the subtle humor and that there is only natural sexuality not the in-your-face porn of other series. This is an adult book, however, there are many adult themes as a lover deserting a woman he has seduced and ruined, and so forth. The author is obviously very knowledgeable about her subject so we get to learn something about modern Egyptology in its infancy.
What does Barbara Rosenblat bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Rosenblat is the voice of Peabody, I have listened to other narrators read this series and it is just not the same. She does Emerson particularly well.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Peabody goes against all custom and hires a ruined woman as her companion.
Any additional comments?
The entire series is wonderful don't stop with this one book. You will be captivated by the descriptions of early archeology, the wonder of Egypt during those early years and a continuing saga of Emerson, Peabody, and eventually Ramses their son.

This was a really odd book.
Revisado: 09-01-13
What did you like best about Omens? What did you like least?
I am an great fan of Kelley Armstrong, but this book was like hanging out with a person who has ADHD. One minute it is a Sci/Fi, the next a mystery thriller, the next a romance, with not much melding of the three, kind of choppy.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I finished the book last night, and I am still trying to figure it out. I could sense maybe three or four different books all crunched together into one. I really enjoy Ms. Armstrong's work, she is such a great writer but this book was just odd. Different editor perhaps?
What three words best describe Carine Montbertrand and Mozhan Marno ’s performance?
Annoying, Annoying, Annoying. Neither one of these narrators impressed me. The narrator for the main character had a really annoying voice. In my opinion, if the director didn't want to have just one narrator then he/she should have chosen male and female voices.
Any additional comments?
Hopefully this is the beginning of a series, and Ms. Armstrong will sort out the plot mismatches in subsequent books.

The word is Cavalry, not Calvary
Revisado: 02-14-13
What does Gigi Shane bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Makes me crazy when this word is mispronounced. Calvary is where Jesus was crucified. Cavalry are mounted soldiers.

I don't understand the fuss.
Revisado: 08-06-11
I have heard some bad narrators, the one who chewed gum to keep her mouth moist, in an early J.A. Jance book, is a case in point. However, John Glover is not one of them. I have listened to all of the Harry Dresden books and although James Marsters has pretty much defined Harry, Mr. Glover did a fine job on this book. I have no complaints about his narration. This is simply a very engaging, well written book, a worthy addition to the series.
