Historia
On the night of November 29, 1981, Natalie Wood disappeared from her yacht, the Splendour, while visiting Catalina Island with her husband, Robert “R.J.” Wagner and their friend, Christopher Walken. The beloved movie star’s tragic drowning shook America, inspiring troves of magazine covers and media pieces. What was originally believed to be an open-and-shut case of accidental drowning has been called into question over the years, and in 2011 the investigation was reopened. In 2018, at the urging of the public, it was reclassified as “suspicious.”

Not a bad point of view on something familiar
Revisado: 08-11-23
First, I loved that the author read the book. There were parts where her emotion came through and it felt genuine. Overall though, I finished the book feeling like the author left something out. Maybe Robert Wagner is as heartless as he seems to be in the author's telling. Maybe he disliked/distrusted her all those years for a reason. Either she didn't see the reason or she maintained her privacy by not explaining it. Still this book was well worth my time. I was a Natalie Wood fan and saw most of her movies and even read other biographies about her in the past. Hearing what her sister had to say about their relationship was, if it is all accurate, a new take on an old "story".

Reading two disconnected stories in the same book
Revisado: 08-30-22
This might be a little bit of a spoiler. Since I wasn't a huge fan of the last book in this series, having a good portion of this one devoted to the same a boring who-done-it wasn't that exciting. Then to have the rest of the book rehashing and repeating what had already gone on between Chris and Terri felt like the author would go somewhere with their lives as it related to the other characters, but for me it didn't, It was just an add-on that didn't make sense for the characters involved. Then there were the violent sex scenes that the female character endured and for the most part the author seemed to be making us think that such behavior by men could be tolerated for the right reason. Even if the author added a few notes of what Terri wanted to do after she got her little boy back, the story line continued to be tolerating Chris' mental instability and cruelty. And then there was how things ended with Chris. Not a good idea in this day and age to display anyone dealing with their issues in that way. Sure she set the character up to be mentally unstable, but no, that was not a good way to end things for Chris.

"The size of your success is measured by the strength of your desire, the size of your dream, and how you handle disappointment along the way." Narration is awful! Info is often overshadowed
Revisado: 06-15-22
This book has a lot of info that is repeated too many times. But more troublesome is the fact that it was sometimes hard to follow because grammatical errors were so odd. The narrator was leaving words out or reading sentences that simply weren't proper English. Every time I heard one I got distracted from the topic at hand. I also found that some of the sections of the book ended rather abruptly and all of a sudden I'd be reading about a new topic. It was jarring. I hope that the publisher has it re-recorded so that any value it has is not overlooked by someone who wants to learn about these topics.

One of the worst books I've ever read on Audible
Revisado: 04-06-22
I still have about an hour left. I never give up on a book! This was terrible. The way it was written was monotonous with all that announcing of who said what about what, or was it whom? The narrator was trying to mimic voices. They were the worst part of it. It would have been a fun topic to read about some behind the scene things about how these show became so big. But I'm not more charmed by them than I was when I started. I do wish they had just read then book and not tried to turn it into a stage production.

At least the narration of this book was very good
Revisado: 08-02-21
The storyline of this person leaves a lot to be desired. If you enjoy reading thrillers mysteries and in general a good who done it story, this one is lacking. I also started to wonder if somebody paid this author by the word. Instead of helping you to understand her characters spent a lot of time repeating things. I still wouldn't mind reading more books by that same narrator very good.

This genre of book isn't for me
Revisado: 10-05-20
My poor overall review is not because I didn't care for this book, which I didn't. It is because it falls into the genre of fantasy or supernatural and not what it seemed from the description. Please Audible, try to do a better job of classifying works so that we can select titles we will enjoy.

Revisado: 07-03-20
This book has been quite a good surprise. It is a cross between an audio book and a podcast. Even though I knew nothing about the topic I've learned a lot. As one who is self employed there are things I can take away to inspire me to do better in many aspects of business. As a book to inspire me to help others to reach their goals and help me think of better ways to do that it has been a pleasure to read. Highly recommend it!

Historia
Over two grim nights in Los Angeles, the young followers of Charles Manson murdered seven people, including the actress Sharon Tate, then eight months pregnant. With no mercy and seemingly no motive, the Manson Family followed their leader's every order. Twenty years ago, when journalist Tom O'Neill was reporting a magazine piece about the murders, he worried there was nothing new to say. Then he unearthed shocking evidence of a cover-up behind the "official" story, including police carelessness, legal misconduct, and potential surveillance by intelligence agents.

I couldn't stop listening
Revisado: 07-10-19
I wish I could meet Mr. O'Neill and tell him how much I appreciate his efforts. I've read a lot of books on this topic and finally someone has questioned the "party line" on just about everything. The authors aren't telling us what to believe. They are telling us what was found over many, many years of research. You feel like you are there with O'Neill doing the research, trying to figure out how to write it and not sound crazy. I'm really glad that I read this.
Narrator is very good. I'd listen to other books he narrates for sure.

Historia
When Marshall McEwan left his hometown at age 18, he vowed never to return. The trauma that drove him away ultimately spurred him to become one of the most successful journalists in Washington DC. But just as the political chaos in the nation’s capital lifts him to new heights, Marshall is forced to return home in spite of his boyhood vow. His father is dying, his mother is struggling to keep the family newspaper from failing, and the town is in the midst of an economic rebirth that might be built upon crimes that reach into the state capitol - and perhaps even to Washington.

I felt like it would never end
Revisado: 04-25-19
First, Scott Brick did his usual high quality work with the narration of this book. The story though, leaves a lot to be desired. Too many characters that acted so badly that it would be impossible to be believable. Yes, fiction isn't real. However, when you read fiction you want to be drawn into the story as if the characters were real. This story did not deliver on that. Also, I came to rather dislike the main characters, particularly the female character. Other than portraying her as smart, she is also a liar, a cheat and one who uses her body to get what she wants. And some of the graphic sexual scenes didn't add anything to the story. Seriously, I kept wondering if the author was getting paid by the word. If you were paying attention he repeated himself unnecessarily several times. Details that weren't useful were all over the place. And, the author seemed to be trying to make a political statement and express a point of view as a positive one. Again, he was unconvincing.

No matter how much you thought you knew about this topic you will be surprised at what a good read this is
Revisado: 03-21-18
I was concerned that this book would be very boring. It was interesting how they were able to weave so many details into a readable format. It’s worth reading for its historical value.
