On November 18, 1967, Private First Class Davis' artillery unit was hit by a massive enemy offensive. At 21 years old, he resolved to face the onslaught and prepared to die. Soon he would have a perforated kidney, crushed ribs, a broken vertebra, his flesh ripped by beehive darts, a bullet in his thigh, and burns all over his body. Ignoring his injuries, he manned a two-ton Howitzer by himself, crossed a canal under heavy fire to rescue three wounded American soldiers, and kept fighting until the enemy retreated.

at the top of my reading list of all time.
What did you like best about this story?
I personally know Sammy and he is just like the book says he is. Down to earth, quiet gentalman. And he does say "Yes "Mam". The realistic way the book is read(audio) is just wonderfully put together bring the past into play with the war brings back a lot of memories of fellow warriors. Myself I am a Vietnam Era Veteran I saw the look on their faces when they came home. So I know how Sammy must of felt as well as the others in the book. I Honor Each and Everyone of Them.
Which character – as performed by Joe Barrett – was your favorite?
Sammy of course and the soldiers he rescued and when he found out they lived
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I cried cause I remember the look on the returning soldiers. And the heart wrenching stories that came out of that war. And are now for some just coming out. It is called PTSD

I love the book myself being a veteran of 21years I see myself a lot in the Slate I too have PTSD but not from combat from the results. It shows that there is help out there for all kinds of PTSD . And this book is EXCELLENT. Easy to read and listen to (I did both). I hope there is more books from this author. I could read their works all day.

Loved the book it flowed very easy from one chapter to another. I'd say this book is equal to "Shades of Gray". I hope there is another book that follows.

It is one of the more realistic stories that I have listened to. It had believable characters, set in a great time frame. All of the Wild books by Meredith Wild are excellent and are connected to one another smoothly. I foresee a movie in the making for these books, better than Shades of Gray. I love all 3 of the books. Am keeping them so I can hear them over and over. Thank you for such a great hearing books

The Hard Wired Series Great

I enjoyed the series very much and I think it would be worth making a movie of. It is more believable than Shades of Gray. I think the reviews and moviegoers would very much like the way you can get the best out the story with out changing much of the story line. I enjoyed it so much I am keeping it on my I Pad so I can listen to it again while on vacation. It was that good a MUST READ. Pat

This tree books are the most enjoyable books I have ever listened to. I wish there were more books like them. The author is a very good and I love the fact that the the books are in serious, and complete with the story. But there is other dragons that need to find life mates too. Need more books. Two sides together

The story line is very well written. I just wish it was longer, it was just getting interesting then they came together . Expected a little more inter family action between prides. But all in all it was a very excellent audiobook and I plan on getting some more.
