Historia
When Evelyn Eldritch is struck by lightning, she gains more than just a shock to the system—she discovers she's a witch! And if that wasn’t shocking enough, Evelyn is then blown away by the news that her long-lost mother has been murdered. With her trusty best friend by her side, Evelyn heads to the quaint village of Maiden-Upon-Avon—a community teeming with werewolves, witches, and vampires—oh my! But the icing on the cake? One handsome-yet-gruff policeman who has her heart racing faster than a boiling kettle.

Tried a new genre; was very pleasantly surprised!

I'd been hearing all over about 'cosy mysteries' and wondered what they were, so I went with a narrator I know and trust from the world of Regency Romance because I didn't know anything about the author. Not at all disappointed, the story is charming; still exciting, but lovely and positive overall. It reminds me of Elizabeth Goudge's books (favourites of J. K. Rowling's growing up, apparently) in that everything is mysterious, magical, but ultimately lovely, but in this something actually happens plot-wise, which is more than can be said for 'The Little White Horse', delightful though it is. Stevie Zimmerman's crisp but empathetic Englishness is the perfect vehicle for this story, and she brings it to life wonderfully.
