Mind changing
Revisado: 02-15-25
Just what I needed to hear. Great concept for how it was written as question/answer. Recommend reading with someone else to discuss. The topics are dense and need to be marinated with our mind/body to feel through the impacts.

Historia
We are in the midst of a global mental health crisis, and mental illnesses are on the rise. But what causes mental illness? And why are mental health problems so hard to treat? Drawing on decades of research, Harvard psychiatrist Dr. Chris Palmer outlines a revolutionary new understanding that for the first time unites our existing knowledge about mental illness within a single framework: mental disorders are metabolic disorders of the brain. Brain Energy will transform the field of mental health, and the lives of countless people around the world.

Unbelievable compilation of data and stories that explain so many of the same inclinations I have formed over many years of experimenting on personal growth. The cell vernacular is all new to me, but it made it easier for me to incorporate the major theme of mitochondria function. Must read for those interested in all mental health related topics.

Great story for Gen X
Revisado: 07-02-23
Being a native of Buffalo was the reason I started the book. The story of travels kept me reading. The reflection and introspection is what got my heart inspired at the end. There are many baby boomers that have a hard time showing their emotions, Gen Y/Z share with ease...in my experience many of my own Gen X struggle to find peace with vulnerability. Thanks Luke for showing us how.

Phenomenal reference for transitioning military
Revisado: 10-18-22
If you are between the ages of 35-65 and thinking about your next job opportunity, this book is a must-read. There aren't many of us that haven't contemplated a change in our environment and this book was exactly what the world conspired for me to have as a guide. Mid-life crisis has many connotations that may not fit what you are feeling as well as a negative, depressing piece. This book will reframe and explain a way to see through and thrive as you jump to your second curve. Good luck!

Thorough review of options to begin next chapter
Revisado: 06-05-22
I transitioned over 3 years ago, but thought this was a great time to review what I may have missed along the way. I thought this was the most thorough review of options which were never discussed at our transition seminars.
Being a business manager in the Navy it wasn't totally unfamiliar either. Regardless, there is something for all of us here. I appreciate the thoroughness of specific types of jobs. I am not sure any work can capture all of those avenues in today's world, but this did cover the majority.
I do wish more time was used to discuss the difference between DoD roles and non-DoD roles. There is a much harder barrier to break in non-DoD environments unless you can find the advocate willing to take the risk and represent you in those initial years as you make a name in that industry.
Keep offering your guidance and knowledge. This is what makes our service and training an invaluable resource in private industry.

Historia
At the dawn of World War I, a young academic named John Maynard Keynes hastily folded his long legs into the sidecar of his brother-in-law’s motorcycle for an odd, frantic journey that would change the course of history. Swept away from his placid home at Cambridge University by the currents of the conflict, Keynes found himself thrust into the halls of European treasuries to arrange emergency loans and packed off to America to negotiate the terms of economic combat.

Historia
The shift toward automation is about to create a tsunami of unemployment. Not in the distant future - now. One recent estimate predicts 13 million American workers will lose their jobs within the next seven years - jobs that won't be replaced. In a future marked by restlessness and chronic unemployment, what will happen to American society? In The War on Normal People, Andrew Yang paints a dire portrait of the American economy. Rapidly advancing technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics, and automation software are making millions of Americans' livelihoods irrelevant.
