Historia
Jack Swyteck’s new client fled Iran to Miami with her daughter, and has been accused of kidnapping by her husband. The seasoned attorney must not only plan a winning defense. To stop the father from taking the girl back to Tehran, Jack must build a case under international law and prove that returning the child would put her at risk. But everything in this case isn’t what it seems, and Jack quickly learns that his client is really the child’s aunt and that the biological mother may have been killed by Iran’s morality police.

Very disappointing
Revisado: 01-23-25
Narration was ok but the story was not. Author tried too hard with too many convoluted plot lines. Very disappointed.

Historia
Every day without fail, Travis Devine puts on a cheap suit, grabs his faux-leather briefcase, and boards the 6:20 commuter train to Manhattan, where he works as an entry-level analyst at the city’s most prestigious investment firm. In the mornings, he gazes out the train window at the lavish homes of the uberwealthy, dreaming about joining their ranks. In the evenings, he listens to the fiscal news on his phone, already preparing for the next grueling day in the cutthroat realm of finance. Then one morning Devine’s tedious routine is shattered by an anonymous email: She is dead.

Great read
Revisado: 08-26-22
This is the best Baldacci book I have read/listened to. I grabbed me from the first chapter and didn’t let go. And the narration was terrific with seemless connection of all the voices. I plan on listening to it again.

Slow plot and too long
Revisado: 07-17-20
While the narration was great the story was not. I have read/listened to all of Donna Leon's other books but found this one to be a let down. The story took took too long to evolve with too much detail. I hope her next book is up the the standards set by all of her other books.

Disappointing Baldacci Book
Revisado: 06-05-20
I agree with several other reviews. The story line is too drawn out and the narration is very amateurish. I have enjoyed most of Baldacci's books but this one is a big disappointment. The narrations sounds more like people reading lines removing any excitement or drama that the author intended.

The is a wonderful, heart wrenching story about the victims of Hitler’s war. Mark Bramhall provided exceptional narration for an extremely well crafted book.

A once up-and-coming detective, she's been given this beat as punishment after filing a sexual harassment complaint against a supervisor. But one night she catches two cases she doesn't want to part with: the brutal beating of a prostitute left for dead in a parking lot and the killing of a young woman in a nightclub shooting.
