Not only is this a very good book but also an important one. I wish it was required reading for all the anti LGBTQ’ers out there. Immersing themselves in Elliot’s story would help a lot of people understand and empathize.

There’s not much that hasn’t already been said about the brilliance of Dickens’ stories and writing style so I’ll address the narrator. Harry Lloyd is nothing short of astonishing. Every single character came completely to life thanks to the distinct accents, cadence and the personality he infused them with. I often forgot it was one man reading to me and not an entire cast of actors. He’s the best of the best that Audible has to offer.

I really enjoyed the story, the humour and the heart of it, but what made all the difference for me was Karen Cass's outstanding narration. I've listened to so many audio-books and she's the best I've ever heard. Each character is so fully realized and recognizable but never exaggerated. In my listening experience I've found it's often a challenge for a narrator to convincingly speak in the voice of the opposite gender but even this she pulls off flawlessly. A terrific listen.
