it's a summary of other people's work
Revisado: 09-29-23
superficial but some good nuggets in here. good to see the common points of emphasis shared by different authors. very short though and only a few minutes from each person really. don't think it's worth a purchase.

In the middle of Oliver Horovitz's high school graduation ceremony, his cell phone rang: It was Harvard. He'd been accepted, but he couldn't start for another year. A caddie since he was 12 and a golfer sporting a 1.8 handicap, Ollie decided to spend his gap year in St. Andrews, Scotland - a town with the UK's highest number of pubs per capita, and home to the Old Course, golf's most famous 18 holes - where he enrolls in the St. Andrews Links Trust caddie trainee program.

Historia
This is the remarkable behind-the-scenes story of the creation and growth of Airbnb, the online lodging platform that has become, in under a decade, the largest provider of accommodations in the world. At first just the wacky idea of cofounders Brian Chesky, Joe Gebbia, and Nathan Blecharczyk, Airbnb has disrupted the $500 billion hotel industry, and its $30 billion valuation is now larger than that of Hilton and close to that of Marriott.

play faster to make narrator less annoying
Revisado: 06-15-23
the narrator truly was annoying as noted in other reviews. her tone was like a children's book or something and didn't fit the content at all but I found it tolerable at 2x speed. the story was pretty interesting but it also didn't seem that insightful more encyclopedic.

Historia
Benjamin Franklin is the founding father who winks at us - an ambitious urban entrepreneur who rose up the social ladder, from leather-aproned shopkeeper to dining with kings. In best-selling author Walter Isaacson's vivid and witty full-scale biography, we discover why Franklin turns to us from history's stage with eyes that twinkle from behind his new-fangled spectacles. In Benjamin Franklin, Isaacson shows how Franklin defines both his own time and ours. The most interesting thing that Franklin invented, and continually reinvented, was himself.

I feel like I can smell the narrator's breath
Revisado: 03-02-23
re record this with a narrator who doesn't smack his lips etc. interesting content though. I also think that the tone of the narrator wasn't right aside from the off-putting sounds. but Franklin is an interesting character and this is a lot easier to follow than his autobiography.

gets annoying after awhile
Revisado: 01-11-23
I don't like the narrator's cadence he sounds overconfident and authoritative. hearing the words flow and flowy so many times I want to barf. but generally some nice ideas that can get me feeling optimistic to get working on projects.

what's the point
Revisado: 08-22-22
nit sure what I learned although there were a few interesting what ifs about AI. also the narrator's voice sounded pretentious so I didn't enjoy listening to it. made it seem like the words were supposed to be important but they didn't really deliver.

nice to be reminded of the potential productivity that can be unlocked by these tactics. docked 1 star because it is quite simple really, I heard the author do an interview after publishing this book and he got to most of the points in that short discussion.

Rocket science is often celebrated as the ultimate triumph of technology. But it's not. Rather, it's the apex of a certain thought process—a way to imagine the unimaginable and solve the unsolvable. It's the same thought process that enabled Neil Armstrong to take his giant leap for mankind, that allows spacecraft to travel millions of miles through outer space and land on a precise spot, and that brings us closer to colonizing other planets.

Nicely organized set of information and easy to take notes from. Designed to be put into action. Good examples of supporting statistics and stories. Could potentially have gone deeper. A lot of familiar material I'd read or heard elsewhere.
