the ignorance of the writing is what stood out the most...
Revisado: 03-03-25
This is very difficult to listen to when you have an entire group of adults who are coddling the 20-year-old boy acting like a 2-year-old. destroying cars, stealing from people, killing them... nobody willing to stand up to Owen. very hard to listen to and you just keep hoping it's going to get better as it goes along and it just continues to get worse. ugh... I don't suggest you get that far into the book because you'll want it to somehow turn around and it's not going to. just move on to something else now.

So completely unrealistic and hard to listen to
Revisado: 12-15-24
This is incredibly unrealistic on every level. People just don't have this kind of shitty luck. They put way too much into this book as far as one family having issue after issue after issue after issue after issue... very difficult to listen to when they added another level and then another level and then another level of trauma and events. horrible...

Narrations horrible! I could not finish this book unfortunately.
Revisado: 12-04-23
I really didn't even want to rate the storyline because I just could not follow the storyline due to the poor narration. I really hope that they go back and have these renarrated. I absolutely fell in love with these characters and the storyline in books one through three. Kevin Pierce is who I was expecting when I purchased book four. I should have checked, but I didn't, my bad. The narration just cannot be listened to or followed. The guy is way out of his league. Unfortunately for me I guess this series will just have to end at book three. I do not suggest you purchase it if you've listened to books one through three. Book 4 will be sorely disappointing to you. The remainder of the books in this series are also narrated by this guy and therefore I won't be purchasing anymore books in this series unless they have them renarrated by somebody that knows what they're doing. hopefully Kevin Pierce, But if not him, anyone that can listen to the first three books and then try to stick with the same narration style and strength. very disappointing...

Matthew and Kathleen are entitled, ignorant idiot
Revisado: 05-27-22
UPDATE 2:
MATTHEW CONTINUES TO BE THE STUPIDEST PERSON THAT COULD EVER EXIST ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH. Why in a million years anyone would ever write a character like him continues to blow my mind. I can't even listen to half of the parts of the book that he's engaged in because he's literally so dumb and flies from the seat of his pants all the time without thinking creating massive issues both in relationships and in people getting injured because he's impossible to deal with and things that he knows everything. why would anybody write a character like Matthew? I've had to skip through multiple parts just to prevent myself and my blood pressure from going up because he's so stupid...
REVIEW 1: I can't believe how stupid the author made these people. they are so entitled and ignorant and I would have shot them myself if I had to be in their group. so freaking stupid it's hard to listen to...

WTH?
Revisado: 05-05-22
I mean this is going to seem silly and I'm about 10 minutes into the second book right now, but how the hell is all this crap being talked about prepping and yet not one of these people has antibiotics? totally and absolutely ridiculous and unrealistic. there's no way that would not be the first thing on a proper list even if you weren't a prepper you better be thinking about the fact that you have to have medication and antibiotics. they've got two people with infections and no antibiotics totally dumb... I'll review again when I get to the end of this book but right now I'm just irritated at these idiots and at the author for writing idiots into this story...

what the little hell?
Revisado: 04-17-22
this story was going so well and I was enjoying it so much until the author went into some bullshit crap about Middle Eastern people in Ashland and Medford Oregon... anyone who has ever been there or lived there, like I have, knows this is a bunch of crap. nobody's going to be worrying about Ashland or Medford Oregon and terrorists are not all islamic. there are more white terrace in the United States that kill people and mass murder people than there are Islamic people day in and day out. this was such a good story until the accents changed and the author ticket to a place that it didn't need to go. what a bunch of effing bullshit...

On book 2 and Jury is still way out...
Revisado: 04-16-22
on the storyline at this point and I'm on book two. It absolutely makes no sense and I don't see why anybody would be doing any of the shit that the author wrote about during a shit hit the fan moment, but nothing is tying together and it appears that all of the bad guys can by osmosis find people and locate them when there's absolutely no communication systems around at all and there's no understanding of how things tie together. I'm going to try to stick with it a little bit longer and then I'm probably going to return it if it doesn't get better.
REVIEW UPDATE 1:
okay.. I'm further through the book and it still just as bad. I don't think you could write more stupid characters than this author wrote. in a shit hit the fan moment Russell is a complete fucking moron. I can't even stand the character build because there's just no intelligence whatsoever in these characters. when people are threatening your life, you kill them you don't shoot to injure that is the worst thing that you can possibly do in life and yet this author just keeps writing about it and writing that into the story over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again... sigh. I really want it this to be good because I want it several uninterrupted hours of decent listening but this just isn't going to happen...

I cannot believe Kevin Pierce associated himself with this crap! do not waste your money on this bullshit. note to self... read the reviews before you buy, in the future.

Let's talk Megan...
Revisado: 05-18-21
She has got to be the most irritating character that I have read about in any EMP book anywhere. The author writes her to be very impulsive, selfish, reactive, emotional, distrusting, and so many other words that go right along with that theme. It's completely irritating that you write a female character to play right into the hands of men who think that all women are like this and don't have the capacity to control their own emotions and make rational decisions. if I weren't in book 3 already I wouldn't even bother finishing this series. disappointing... and by the third book it's just difficult to keep listening to her and the fact that she really hasn't learned from any of her previous experiences she just continues to be impulsive, reactive and totally effing annoying.
