Historia
In May 1996, two skilled backcountry leaders, Lollie Winans and Julie Williams, entered Virginia’s Shenandoah National Park for a week-long backcountry camping trip. The free-spirited and remarkable young couple had met and fallen in love the previous summer while working at a world-renowned outdoor program for women. During their final days in the park, they descended the narrow remnants of a trail and pitched their tent in a hidden spot. After the pair didn’t return home as planned, park rangers found a scene of horror at their campsite.

Unfocused
Revisado: 03-26-24
A great cold case shadowed by a lot of irrelevant social justice topics. The author waits several chapters and then becomes rather political and it just doesn't fit.

Historia
Ellen McGarrahan was a young journalist for The Miami Herald in 1990 when she witnessed the botched execution of convicted killer Jesse Tafero: flames and smoke and three jolts of the electric chair. When evidence later emerged casting doubt on Tafero’s guilt, McGarrahan found herself haunted by his fiery death. Had she witnessed the execution of an innocent man? Decades later, McGarrahan, now a successful private investigator, is still gripped by the mystery and infamy of the Tafero case, and decides she must investigate it herself.

over dramatic
Revisado: 04-01-21
Spoiler alert...
Basically the author is "haunted" because she witnesses an execution. it takes hours if reading to learn the right guy was executed. most of the book is about her quite over dramatic inner demons surrounding this case. The case itself is interesting, her take on it falls short.

Minimal Information, Really poor narration
Revisado: 11-16-20
most of the information in this book will not be new even for the beginner.
the narrator speaks so slowly I recommend speeding the performance up to 1.45, she puts odd emphasis where it doesn't belong and is inexplicably jubilant at times.

Great Story with garbage narration.
Revisado: 10-04-20
You can literally hear the narrator yawn throughout this performance. There is no attempt to edit out mistakes like saying "emeny" instead of enemy. This story is about a real hero, you are telling his story, act like it.
