Historia
Orphaned heiress Kidan Adane grew up far from the arcane society she was born into, where human bloodlines gain power through vampire companionship. When her sister, June, disappears, Kidan is convinced a vampire stole her—the very vampire bound to their family, the cruel yet captivating Susenyos Sagad. To find June, Kidan must infiltrate the elite Uxlay University—where students study to ensure peaceful coexistence between humans and vampires and inherit their family legacies. Kidan must survive living with Susenyos—even as he does everything he can to drive her away.

Slow building but worth the time
Revisado: 10-30-24
It took me a long time to get into this book, but I could tell the story was getting better so I committed to it and I’m glad I did. It’s a complicated listen, but performed masterfully by a narrator I’ve enjoyed in other series by Justina Ireland. If you enjoy vampire stories, the benefit of this one is the diversity of its cast, and the school as a setting, which brings young vibrant characters seeking self discovery, and navigating youth and internal conflict. I hope it’s a series and I’ll be back if there are more books to come.

Now that everyone knows she’s both a siren and an assassin, Saoirse is the most wanted fugitive in Keirdre. Framed for the old king’s death, every powerful fae in the kingdom is calling for her execution. To keep her safe, the newly crowned King Hayes asks her to cross the magical barrier that separates Keirdre from its enemies. There’s only one problem: if she doesn’t find a way to bring the barrier down, she can never come back.

Stellar story full of exiting twists and plots!

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. It’s not often that you find a book where you’re trying to figure it out and enjoying the details along the way, not wanting to rush it to know the answer and savoring everything. This author’s use of descriptive language is phenomenal. I wish there were four more books in this series. The narrator was one of the best I’ve heard in a long time. Accents, voice differentiation, passion. It’s all there. If you like fantasy, war, romance, who-done-it reads with magic sprinkled all throughout, you’ll love this book and the series!

Mystical Afrocentric family drama with a fresh Gen Z vibe
Revisado: 08-19-24
The voice acting was superb as is expected from this narrator. The story is slow to build but has good character development. The budding romance storyline is sweet. I enjoyed the vivid descriptions of the family members from their hairstyles and accessories, to their lineage and relationship dynamics. And then the main character’s love of cuisine is something I can savor right along with her. It’s techy and futuristic, laced with dazzling couture and old Bayou-style magic. The second book is already in my cart. Enjoy!

Historia
Lore, legend, and history tell us of the Vikings: warrior kings on epic journeys of conquest and plunder. But the stories we know are not the only stories to tell. There is another story, one that has been lost to the mists of time: the saga of the dark queen.

I’m so pleased with this book! The character development is some of the best I’ve read. The story keeps you engaged from start to end. The narration is chef’s kiss! Willow and Jess, you should be enormously proud of this fine work. Brava!!

Historia
In an all too imaginable future, where the privileged lead lives untouched by wars that have become a global pastime, disenfranchised young people who “volunteer” to become super soldiers are injected with nano technology that repeatedly brings them back from death. In a race against time, one such soldier and an analyst struggle to understand strange phenomena that occur after too many resurrections: glitches known as nostalgia, which even in the midst of combat can hurtle a soldier into the past. But after eight, nine, even ten resurrections lies something much worse than just glitches.

Gripping, horrifying, Sci-fi dystopia at its finest.
Revisado: 10-28-23
Ireland is a masterful author, but this book really punches. The epic story is only heightened in intensity by Freeman’s delivery. Not an audiobook to relax to, it’s a wild ride and sick from start to finish.

I haven’t enjoyed an adobe book this much in a long time. The performance truly brings the characters alive. The story reveals a whole other world filled with passion and mystery. Compelling from start to finish!! Will read or listen again.
