Historia
Renée Ballard and the LAPD’s Open-Unsolved Unit get a hot shot DNA connection between a recently arrested man and a serial rapist and murderer who went quiet twenty years ago. The arrested man is only twenty-four, so the genetic link must be familial: His father was the Pillowcase Rapist, responsible for a five-year reign of terror in the city of angels. But when Ballard and her team move in on their suspect, they encounter a baffling web of secrets and legal hurdles. Meanwhile, Ballard’s badge, gun, and ID are stolen.

One of the best overall
Revisado: 11-14-24
I’ve been in and out on Ballard’s character as she’s been introduced. A little cocky for me and seemed to demean Bosch a bit as an old timer who doesn’t know what he is doing. But the character arc was better for me in this one and she was taken down a notch or two. Just enough Harry to keep me interested and loved the introduction of more Maddie. Good balance and the story line was intriguing and never had a lull. Really enjoyed this one.

Great for baseball fans
Revisado: 08-21-24
This was a very enjoyable book, especially for baseball fans. I enjoyed so much of the mental aspect of the main character and his thoughts while playing. Somewhat disappointing ending. Not super realistic and could’ve been so much stronger.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Another tremendous King novel

Only King could write something so detailed, mind-blowing and terrific. It’s one I’ll listen to over and over.

Historia
It’s the eve of 1953, and Aloysius Archer is in Los Angeles to ring in the New Year with an old friend, aspiring actress Liberty Callahan, when their evening is interrupted by an acquaintance of Callahan’s: Eleanor Lamb, a screenwriter in dire straits. After a series of increasingly chilling events—mysterious phone calls, the same blue car loitering outside her house, and a bloody knife left in her sink—Eleanor fears that her life is in danger, and she wants to hire Archer to look into the matter. Archer suspects that Eleanor knows more than she’s saying.

Baldacci doesn't disappoint
Revisado: 06-01-22
Another fun and great story. I hope Archer remains around for several more books. It's fun to see a refreshing look into the past and how things were done, as well as the lack of technology and the language of yesteryear.
