Historia
Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius was the final famous Stoic philosopher of the ancient world. The Meditations, his personal journal, survives to this day as one of the most loved self-help and spiritual classics of all time. In How to Think Like a Roman Emperor, psychotherapist Donald Robertson weaves stories of Marcus’s life from the Roman histories together with explanations of Stoicism—its philosophy and its psychology—to enlighten today’s listeners. He discusses Stoic techniques for coping with everyday problems, from irrational fears and bad habits to anger, pain, and illness.

Wisdom knows no time

I highly recommend this excellent book! I use all the principles in this book every day of my life. The tools for living are very clearly described and can be implemented immediately by anyone seeking to improve their life.
In college, I studied all the great philosophers and I have read the scriptures of most religions. I always tired to live a life of honor in the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. And I was always very willing to share it with other people. I had incorporated what I have learned and put it to a life of public service.
About four years ago I faced death in a most direct and profound way. I survived when no one thought that I would. I was physically handicapped for life. I had to leave a very successful and lucrative position and retire well before I had planned. To say that I was devastated is an understatement.
Now time became my enemy and my best friend. For the first time in my life I had the time to ponder all these many things that I had learned and try to apply them to this most difficult situation. I am a veteran with PTSD so I know much about treatments and various methods for addressing that particular issue.
Needless to say, I use to read scores of books and my attention span is not what it use to be. My daughter got me Audible and your book is the first one that I listen to. This book makes so much perfect sense, that I am convinced that it will help so very many people.
In a very elegant way, this book distills the teachings of so very many philosophers. It is amazing how straightforward and clear it was presented. This book clearly shows that philosophy is for everyone.
I do believe also that it will inspire many to pick up ancient books and read them. For what was true and wise then is true and wise forever.
I am great-full for this most pleasant book. My mom taught me in life one simple thing...."Do the next right thing". Of course you need knowledge and wisdom to know what the next right thing is for so very many complex situations that we call life. I know that Philosophy is a way of life and it is mine.
