Cam has sold his successful marketing agency to look after the boys while Holly goes full throttle on her career post-maternity leave, and everything’s peachy. ‘Til Cam discovers Holly has been having an affair with a colleague. Excellent grasp of a lot of marriages
Revisado: 08-07-23
With or without an affair this story resonated on so many levels! The unsatisfactory ending was perfect because life - especially when it comes to marriage - doesn’t always have a satisfactory end! Stephen Curry’s narration was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Obviously an American who left the other review about Curry! Because it’s always about Americans! 🤦🏻♀️🙄😂

"So I thought I might take up paragliding. You know, buy one on eBay and just jump off the cliff one morning." Emily Willows is middle-aged, widowed, wealthy, and bored. When she makes those flippant remarks to her son over coffee one Friday, she has no inkling that within a few hours she will be facing the most terrifying situation of her life.

Boring narrator
Revisado: 07-11-23
I love the DC Smith stories but these female characters are stereotyped and boooring! The narrator sounds like she’d rather be doing anything else other than narrating this story. Her reading is awful, no expression or interest in what’s happening. I will listen to the next as it’s free but will see after that if there’s no change. Grainger - women aren’t just trouble makers in their jobs and have to be ‘controlled’ by their male bosses nor are they just bored, podgy old women who need to exercise more. 🙄

Historia
Beth and Cath are leaving their husbands. This is a story about two very different women. One is wealthy and having an affair with a man who gives her the kind of love that her cold, detached husband does not. One is living hand to mouth, suffering at the hands of a violent partner who would rather see her dead than leave him. You may think you know these women already and how their lives will unfold. Beth will live happily ever after with her little girl and her soulmate. Cath will go back to her abusive husband. And these two women will never cross paths. But you will be wrong.

Every killer in the series is a woman!
Revisado: 06-18-23
I really enjoy the performance and I like Detective Dan but I’ve listened to all 3 free books and every killer so far has been female! Why?! I find that annoying but other than that easy listening!

Historia
Claire is a 20-something, single mom who grudgingly helps her best friend sell sex toys while she attempts to make enough money to start her own business to give her foul-mouthed, but extremely loveable (when he's asleep) toddler a better life. When Carter, the one-night-stand from her past that changed her life forever, shows up in her hometown bar without any recollection of her besides her unique chocolate scent, Claire will make it a point that he remembers her this time. With Carter's undisguised shock at suddenly finding out he has a four-year-old son and Claire's panic that her stretch marks and slim-to-none bedroom experience will send the man of her dreams heading for the hills, the pair will do whatever they can to get their happily ever after.

WARNING set 2013 - disparages women to insult men
Revisado: 09-11-22
I liked this book - the narration was pretty terrible though -no change in voices for the main characters and sometimes confusing to know when it was the guy talking, especially when it went from her perspective to his in the same chapter without acknowledging it. But really - I had to check when this was written as the vagina jokes, the 'bitch' comments between male characters as well as the constant disparaging 'don't be a pussy' or 'I'll go buy you tampax' as an insult to male characters got really old really quickly. I don't normally bother to review books but this one was just too much as could be triggering to some listeners. Listened to more recent books of hers and was nothing like this.

Historia
A compelling thriller introducing a driven young detective trying to prove herself in the LAPD. Renée Ballard works the night shift in Hollywood, beginning many investigations but finishing none as each morning she turns her cases over to day shift detectives. A once up-and-coming detective, she's been given this beat as punishment after filing a sexual harassment complaint against a supervisor.

Please don't narrate anymore books!!
Revisado: 03-10-18
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Great story, very boring narrator! Does the author have control over the narrator of their novels?? I couldn't tell whether it was a female or male narrator - which wasn't a big deal - but she sounded totally bored and it was often very difficult to distinguish between different characters.
Would you be willing to try another one of Katherine Moennig’s performances?
Probably not.

Historia
In the LAPD's Open-Unsolved Unit, not many murder victims die almost a decade after the crime. So when a man succumbs to complications from being shot by a stray bullet nine years earlier, Bosch catches a case in which the body is still fresh, but any other evidence is virtually nonexistent. Now Bosch and his new partner, rookie Detective Lucia Soto, are tasked with solving what turns out to be a highly charged, politically sensitive case.

Boring voice!
Revisado: 02-08-17
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Connelly seems to have forgotten some of his previous plot points. A couple of old story lines were mentioned however not as they happened in the books. He stated that Bosch had a partner who went rogue and he had to go find him, but that was in reference to the Drug squad character who faked his own death - never Harry's partner. There were a couple of others I caught but can't remember them now. At the time though, it was disappointing to realise Connelly stuffed up on the recall of his own books.
What three words best describe Titus Welliver’s performance?
Boring, mumbling, boring
Any additional comments?
I love all the Harry Bosch books and have them all as well as the Mickey Haller audios. Some of the readers voices have annoyed me over time but this one was by far the worst. Welliver sounded bored by the story and the character, often not bothering to change his voice at all so the characters were barely distingusihable from each other. He mumbled regularly and there was one sectioned I played back 3 times and still have no idea what he said!!
