Historia
Joan Rivers was more than a legendary comedian; she was an icon and a role model to millions, a fearless pioneer who left a legacy of expanded opportunity when she died in 2014. Her life was a dramatic roller coaster of triumphant highs and devastating lows: the suicide of her husband, her feud with Johnny Carson, her estrangement from her daughter, her many plastic surgeries, her ferocious ambition, and her massive insecurities.

What made the experience of listening to Last Girl Before Freeway the most enjoyable?
It seemed like a compendium of Ms Rivers own works. I kept thinking "Wait I have heard this before." Skip the book if you have read Ms Rivers books because you have heard it before .. from Joan.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
She died .. duh

Where does This Was a Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
In top 5 at least
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Took me a few days to realize it was the last. I am sure the author tired of them but as a fan I could just about start over again!
Have you listened to any of Alex Jennings’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Not sure
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not really .. it is smooth story telling at its best

Historia
One hundred thousand years ago, at least six human species inhabited the Earth. Today there is just one. Us. Homo sapiens. How did our species succeed in the battle for dominance? Why did our foraging ancestors come together to create cities and kingdoms? How did we come to believe in gods, nations, and human rights; to trust money, books, and laws; and to be enslaved by bureaucracy, timetables, and consumerism?

It could be said that Leon Panetta has had two of the most consequential careers of any American public servant in the past 50 years. His first career, beginning as an army intelligence officer and including a distinguished run as one of Congress' most powerful and respected members, lasted 35 years and culminated in his transformational role as Clinton's budget czar and White House chief of staff.

Sadly this is a guy who could lead this country from the front not the back but happily he is not going to subject himself, and his family, to the idiocy of campaigning. He tells the story that the internet and crazies from both sides want to cloud in obfuscation and outright lies and distortions.

AVOID THIS BOOK
Revisado: 10-08-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I have no idea what story about because the reader sounds like a chipmunk on speed speaking an unintelligible language. I finally had to give up and delete. Waste of money!! Audible should never contract with reader for any other books
Would you ever listen to anything by David Mitchell again?
Sadly I have no idea because I could not understand what this book was about
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of the narrators?
Anyone that could be understood!
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Anger that I paid for a book the reader made unintelligible
Any additional comments?

Historia
Like the Rockefellers and the Kennedys, the Kochs are one of the most influential dynasties of the modern age, but they have never been the subject of a major biography... until now. Not long after the death of his father, Charles Koch, then in his early 30s, discovered a letter the family patriarch had written to his sons. "You will receive what now seems to be a large sum of money," Fred Koch cautioned. "It may either be a blessing or a curse."

Revisado: 08-22-14
If you could sum up Sons of Wichita in three words, what would they be?
A scary family
What other book might you compare Sons of Wichita to and why?
The Godfather series
What does Allen O'Reilly bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Nothing -- which is good for a reader .. I don't want to analyze the reader any more than I analyze the sound of my voice when I read .. with the exception of Judy Kaye who IS Kelsey Milhone of the Grafton series. I will not read a Grafton book because it can not be as good as Judy Kaye
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Inside the right wing finance machine

Would you listen to The Price of Politics again? Why?
I would not listen again because th subject does not need further review or explanation
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
How does he do it? How does Woodward get these politicos to give him the detail and inner comments on this subjects. It really is a 'you are there' narrative.

Why he became The Devil
Revisado: 10-30-11
Being some one who was suspect of most of Cheney's positions during his V Presidency I thought this would be a good way to get insight.
Like Rumsfeld's memoir neither man really did much but blame some one else for failures and take responsibility for successes. The most telling part of Cheney's tale is his negative observations of the abuse of power by Nixon staffers but when it becomes his power similar transgressions are justified.
Cheney is a stalwart patriot BUT he is convinced it has to be his way or it is wrong.
As a man who respects guns his attitude toward the US global position is to use weapons to annihilate any and all enemies.
Diplomacy is for the weak.
He strongly believes if you have the weapons you should use them.
Quickly.
After the book I am even more convinced that Mr Cheney's views are badly flawed.
I am sure every listener will hear what he/she want to hear. I heard a man who believes the US is NOT the world's peace maker it is the world's police force charged with enforcing our laws!
