Historia
Some say that to change the world you must first burn it down. Now that belief will be tested in the crucible of revolution: The Breakers and Burners have seized the levers of power, the smoke of riots has replaced the smog of industry, and all must submit to the wisdom of crowds. With nothing left to lose, Citizen Brock is determined to become a new hero for the new age, while Citizeness Savine must turn her talents from profit to survival before she can claw her way to redemption.

Revisado: 11-19-24
Once again, Joe shows off his skills. I don't know what else to say... He's a generational talent, and I am so glad I was introduced to his works. Very very excited for his next series, and I hope some day we get to come back to the Circle of the World!

Historia
Before iron helmets and steel swords, when dragons roamed the world, was an age of bronze and stone, when the Gods walked the earth, and people lived in terror. In this era a scribe, a warlord, a dancer, a mute insect and a child should have no chance against the might of the bickering gods and their cruel games. But the gods themselves are old, addicted to their own games of power, and now their fates may lie in the hands of mere mortals . . .

First Contact at its best!
Revisado: 08-13-24
Man oh man. I loved the Expanse series and have been excited for the release of these guys' lastest. It was wprth the wait! I couldn't put this down. From plot, to characters to setting. It ticks all my boxes. Pacing was sometimes a lil wonky, but didn't detract from the overall quality of the novel. A must buy!

Historia
In 1345, China lies under harsh Mongol rule. For the starving peasants of the Central Plains, greatness is something found only in stories. When the Zhu family’s eighth-born son, Zhu Chongba, is given a fate of greatness, everyone is mystified as to how it will come to pass. The fate of nothingness received by the family’s clever and capable second daughter, on the other hand, is only as expected.

Wow! Fantastic retelling
Revisado: 04-07-24
This retelling of Mulan was unbelievably good. It uses so many modern gender and social issues mixed eith ancient Chinese culture. What a ride. I have to admit I did not see the end coming at me even eith all the obvious foreshadowing before hand. Great story. Great narration. Looking forward to reading book two.

Abercrombie is a master of the human elements
Revisado: 03-11-24
This is my favorite Abercrombie book so far, and by far the best of the stand alones. I am a suck for spaghetti westerns, and this just checks so many other boxes in this setting. Like the rest of his novels, Joe picks a theme and runs with it throughout the fantastic story and setting. The way he weaves it in and out of each PoV character and even the ancillary ones is just something so rare in modern story telling. I can't recommend this enough! Pacey once again just kills the narration. He's easily replaced Ray Porter and John Lee as my new favorite. Do not pass on this!
