For generations, everything has been getting faster, better, and cheaper. Finally, we reached the point that almost anything you could ever want could be sent to your home within days - even hours - of when you decided you wanted it. America made that happen, but now America has lost interest in keeping it going.

The Best Worst Story Ever Told
Revisado: 10-18-23
Never before has there been a story of such length, density, complexity, and yes, tragedy that depended on such honesty, frankness, and in your face bluntness told with such flair, integrity, precision and just the right touch of humor that makes it so compelling to truly listen to it closely all the way through to its bitter , yet potentially sweet, end. so do yourself a favor listen to that curious voice in your head that whispers to you to put aside all preconceived notions about what to expect and pull the trigger and click on the icon that will place its tale into your library and do not hesitate to give a true listening. Then do everyone else a favor and encourage others to do the same. Because it is rare that such a sad, and yes bleak, tale can be told with no punches pulled that still leaves one with a glimmer of hope, but only if it is shared far and wide.

Eye Opening
Revisado: 07-24-23
Although particularly addressing women and the diverse ways sensory experience is processed and for many pathologised by society, I can see from a male perspective how these spectrums of relating play out for both men and women. And it affirms what I have suspect regarding what psychiatry now calls disorders should be looked at from the perspective of how they can, with acceptance, be highly advantageous.
In short, I believe you will find the book interesting and helpful as you continue your path of discovery, whether neurotypical or not, because it is highly likely you live and or work with far more divergent minds than you now realize.

Historia
The headlines are clear: Religion is on the decline in America as many people leave behind traditional religious practices. In this follow-up to her critically acclaimed book Christianity After Religion, Diana Butler Bass argues that what appears to be a decline actually signals a major transformation in how people understand God. The distant God of conventional religion has given way to a more intimate sense of the sacred with us in the world.

The Spiritual Revolution Coherently Expressed
Revisado: 05-03-23
Having embarked on this path at 17, leaving the Evangelical world of my youth and traversing the wild guided only by the heartfelt knowing that God is love and eventually blessed with an unexpected revelation confirming my inner guide; this book thrills me as it reveals to me, in my 71st year, that the revolution is underway and beginning to sink deep roots. The author's gift of being able to express its reality in Christian terms while simultaneously including all feels like the fulfilment of all things hoped. No matter where you may believe yourself to be in relation to the Spirit, if there is even a hint of curiosity, go with it. You will not be disappointed.

Historia
How can you still be a Christian? This is the most common question Diana Butler Bass is asked today. It is a question that many believers ponder as they wrestle with disillusionment in their church and its leadership. But while many Christians have left their churches, they cannot leave their faith behind. Bass challenges the idea that Jesus can only be understood in static, one-dimensional ways and asks us to instead consider a life where Jesus grows with us and helps us through life’s challenges in several capacities: as Friend, Teacher, Savior, Lord, Way, and Presence.

We cannot talk about God with any degree of certainty, because God is, by definition, a being who transcends imagination, expectation, and comprehension. What we know is this: There is more of God to know than any of us will ever fully know in this life. So, let's begin by embracing the mystery of Christ to discover the endlessly unfolding beauty of uncertainty.

Highly recommended for Disillusioned Christians
Revisado: 03-04-23
Finally, a Christian writing that gets to the heart of Jesus' teaching. If this Christian based viewpoint had been presented when I was 16 I would likely have stayed a professing member of the church. Instead, 55 years ago, I became an early adherent to what is now called spiritual but not religious.
I have no regrets about the choice I made. But, had there been a Christian teacher like the author here my journey through life experiences would have been much different, although I can say the resulting worldview would have been much the same.
So, if you are among those who have recently or even decades ago left organized Christianity behind but now feel a pull to return to your spiritual roots. this book is for you. I would also highly recommend it for those of you who are actively looking for additional spiritual practice, guidance, and insights to help light the way.
I'm 71 now and I've discovered the joy of coming home. And now I feel the blessings of being alive at a time when it appears Christianity is knocking at the door once again.

Some of the best philosophers in the world gather in surprising places—preschools and playgrounds. They debate questions about metaphysics and morality, even though they’ve never heard those words and can’t tie their shoes. They’re kids. And as University of Michigan professor of philosophy and law Scott Hershovitz shows, they can help grown-ups solve some of life’s greatest mysteries.

Historia
There are qualities we all yearn to experience in our lives - peace, simplicity, grace, connection, clarity. Yet these qualities evade us, because each of them arises from an experience of wholeness, and we live in a culture that enforces divisions within each of us. In Radical Wholeness, Philip Shepherd shows the countless ways in which we are persuaded to separate from the body and live in the head. Disconnected from the body's intelligence, we also disconnect from the wholeness of the present.

Historia
If you could travel back to the world of ancient Palestine and hear Jesus teach in his own native tongue, what would you learn? Join Neil Douglas-Klotz, the brilliant translator and best selling author of Prayers of the Cosmos, as he delves into early New Testament scriptures written in Aramaic - the original language of Jesus and his followers. Overlooked for centuries by all but a small minority of the world's Christians, these sacred texts rejuvenate the teachings of Jesus with an original subtlety and richness of meaning found in no other translation. Douglas-Klotz draws us deeply into these passages of the Gospels - including the Beatitudes and the Lord's Prayer - and then adds to his passionate scholarship by teaching us a series of body-centered meditations for interpreting and reflecting on these sacred words in much the same way as the early Christians did. What lies hidden within these scriptures may surprise many: a visionary Christ who transcends the narrow and the dogmatic to offer us a grand cosmology based on the earthy wisdom of an ancient desert people.
