Historia
James Bond is not an easily intimidated man, but it’s hard not to feel unnerved in the presence of Mr. Big. A ruthless Harlem gangster who uses superstition and fear to control his vast criminal empire, he’s also one of SMERSH’s top American operatives. Mr. Big has been smuggling British pirate treasure to New York from a remote Jamaican island and funneling the proceeds to Moscow.

Wrong narrator
Revisado: 11-29-24
I'm a 007 fan so the story is ok. But having a female narrator for a cast that is about 95% male, including the main character, is ludicrous. Why would you do this?! DEI hiring? Additionally she was terrible with accents. Half the time Felix L. sounded like he was from NYC and the other half he sounded southern. definitely diminished the listening.

Vince Carver left the CIA with a dead friend and a close call. So much for so-called intelligence work. No longer knowing what he was fighting for, Carver switched to the private sector and swore he'd never go back. Armed with the elite skills of a special operator, he now leads a team of security specialists far from the battlefield. But everything changes when his convoy is ambushed on American soil. The three-letter agencies all want a piece of him, and the CIA is front and center.

Needs better reader.
Revisado: 10-28-24
An “ok” storyline but the reader is really boring and speaks in a monotone. Would listen to more by the author but NOT this reader. If author wants this series to succeed get Scott Brick or someone similar.

Entertaining/timely story but ...
Revisado: 10-24-23
Enjoyed the book except for one nagging issue. The author has no knowledge of Army ranks. She refers to the second in command of the North Dakota army base as a corporal, which is not even an officer rank. A corporal is the first (ie, lowest) no-commissioned officer rank. Also, the corporal character is a West Point graduate and who would have been commissioned a lieutenant (lowest officer's rank) upon graduation. As second in command to a General, he might have been a Coronel. Did anyone proof read this book?

The chic Manhattan nightspot Du Vin is not the kind of place Eve Dallas would usually patronize, and it's not the kind of bar where a lot of blood gets spilled. But that's exactly what happens one cold February evening.

Not her best
Revisado: 05-19-21
I liked other Robb books better. Narrator just passable. Had difficulty distinguishing among both female and male character voices. Slips into a bit of Irish accent even when character not Irish.

Historia
The Black Dahlia Murder is near legend in the annals of true crime. But behind the shocking case of a young actress’s gruesome slaying lies the story of another woman. Was Fauna Hodel the child of incest and the catalyst for a sensational trial that left her well-to-do family scarred by scandal, even as the accused sexual predator walked free? Taken as an infant from her teenage mother, Fauna was placed in the care of a working-class black woman who raised the white child as her own.

Not as advertised!
Revisado: 09-28-20
You have got to be kidding me. I've been an audible customer for about 20 years and this is my first review. The story is fine but the book's description gives the impression of a great "who done it" mystery, if not a detective story. It emphases the potential link to the Black Dalia murder as well as the underlying family scandal. Well these issues are finally "mentioned" in the final 1-2 hours of a 10-1/2 hour book. Rewrite the book description so customers know the books actual/predominate focus.
