Historia
Author and historian Tom Holland returns to his roots in Roman history and the audience he cultivated with Rubicon—his masterful, witty, brilliantly researched popular history of the fall of the Roman republic—with Dynasty, a luridly fascinating history of the reign of the first five Roman emperors. Dynasty continues Rubicon's story, opening where that book ended: with the murder of Julius Caesar. This is the period of the first and perhaps greatest Roman emperors. It's a colorful story of rule and ruination, from the rise of Augustus to the death of Nero.

Fantastic Recreation of Roman Mindset
Revisado: 08-23-20
Tom Holland proves once again that he is one of the greatest historical story tellers because of his ability to put you into the shoes of those who lived through events. All of his works do this exceptionally well and Dynasty is no different. While it’s not an authoritative telling of the times and some events are skimmed over, if you’re looking for a book to compliment your knowledge on the time period of the Julio-Claudians and put you in the front seat of events at the Fall of the Roman Republic, this is your book

Historia
William Shakespeare's gripping play showed Caesar's assassination to be an amateur and idealistic affair. The real killing, however, was a carefully planned paramilitary operation, a generals' plot put together by Caesar's disaffected officers and designed with precision. Brutus and Cassius were indeed key players, but they had the help of a third man - Decimus. He was the mole in Caesar's entourage, one of Caesar's leading generals, and a lifelong friend.

Great retelling
Revisado: 04-02-20
A thorough and well presented depiction of the topic. Covers the events immediately preceding the assassination and the political fallout afterwards. The later details of the civil war are skimped on a bit bit still enough to give you an idea of what happened.

Historia
Julius Caesar wrote his exciting Commentaries during some of the most grueling campaigns ever undertaken by a Roman army. The Gallic Wars and The Civil Wars constitute the greatest series of military dispatches ever written. As literature, they are representative of the finest expressions of Latin prose in its "golden" age, a benchmark of elegant style and masculine brevity imitated by young schoolboys for centuries.
