Historia
Long before The Lost Kitchen became a world dining destination with every seating filled the day the reservation book opens each spring, Erin French was a girl roaming barefoot on a 25-acre farm, a teenager falling in love with food while working the line at her dad’s diner and a young woman finding her calling as a professional chef at her tiny restaurant tucked into a 19th century mill.

Easy to follow — nice flow
Revisado: 11-28-23
I love books read by the authors. Erin has a very soothing voice. I found myself just wanting to hear her talk. She has a captivating journey, and I found myself wanting to hear how it ended even though I already knew. I have been a fan of the lost kitchen for many years now and this makes me all the more determined to beat out the quarter million other people each year that share my same dream. Happy for you Erin—your moments of despair have made you a wonderful human capable of deep love and steady grace. That is becoming a rare trait these days. Historia
In Coming Clean, Seth Haines writes a raw account of his first 90 days of sobriety, illuminating how to face the pain we’d rather avoid, and even more importantly, how an abiding God meets us in that pain. Seth shows us that true wholeness is found in facing our pain and anxieties with the tenacity and tenderness of Jesus, and only through Christ's passion can we truly come clean.

Excellent writing
Revisado: 10-26-22
I was surprised I liked this but I did. Very well written. It is a journal/diary, No real plot to speak of. The plot for me was coming to terms with living life always “in the middle”. We begin our lives & end our lives at some point but the living, the processing, is always taking place in the middle. This may be a book I purchase a copy as there are lots of places I would have wanted to highlight.

Historia
Like many women, Clare Pooley found the juggle of a stressful career and family life a struggle, so she left her successful role as a managing partner in one of the world's biggest advertising agencies to look after her family. She knew the change wouldn't be easy, but she never expected to find herself an overweight, depressed, middle-aged mother of three who was drinking more than a bottle of wine a day and spending her evenings Googling 'am I an alcoholic?'

Well done
Revisado: 05-01-21
This book is expertly read. Claire is quite funny and doesn’t get political, thank goodness. Her story has gotten me through these last couple weeks. Like I have a friend nearby when the struggle gets real. And it does. Thank you Clare for being bold and humble to allow us to walk with you toward a sober life. It really is more rewarding — so glad you’re healthy & happy.

Historia
A best seller in its native Canada, Drunk Mom is a gripping, brutally honest memoir of motherhood in the shadow of alcoholism. Three years after giving up drinking, Jowita Bydlowska found herself throwing back a glass of champagne like it was ginger ale. It was a special occasion: a party celebrating the birth of her first child. It also marked Bydlowska's immediate, full-blown return to crippling alcoholism.

Bigger problems than alcohol

Historia
We live in a world obsessed with drinking. We drink at baby showers and work events, brunch and book club, graduations and funerals. Yet no one ever questions alcohol’s ubiquity—in fact, the only thing ever questioned is why someone doesn’t drink. It is a qualifier for belonging and if you don’t imbibe, you are considered an anomaly. As a society, we are obsessed with health and wellness, yet we uphold alcohol as some kind of magic elixir, though it is anything but.

Whitaker’s personality shines
Revisado: 08-16-20
This is one of several reads on sobriety for me. It’s Whitaker’s story and I appreciated the vulnerable pieces of her life. Many which spoke to me. However the very things she detests (I.e egos) is quite pronounced in herself. She shares this quality with her most detested person but I won’t spoil it for you. Like him, she doesn’t drink and has a limited vocabulary—they actually have more in common than she realizes. I enjoyed other reads where the authors weren’t dropping the Fbomb constantly and weren’t trying to convince themselves they were ok with their own sobriety. Whitaker has a bone to pick with society but once I moved past her pronounced ego I was able to learn from her extensive research on alcohol and its effects on women.

Historia
In this second book from the Duggars, they focus on the principles that equip them to face life's challenges—drawing from their most recent challenge with the 3-month premature birth of their newest child, Josie. They also share the new challenges their older children are facing as they prepare for adult life. Central to the book is a section on the principles that the Duggars have consistently taught their children. These simply worded principles are basic to the Duggar family and are shared in a way that other parents can incorporate in their own homes.
