Historia
On a cold Saturday afternoon in 1975, two men (who had known each other for eight years before they’d ever exchanged a word) met for lunch in a Chicago pub. Gene Siskel was the film critic for the Chicago Tribune. Roger Ebert had recently won the Pulitzer Prize—the first ever awarded to a film critic—for his work at the Chicago Sun-Times. To say they despised each other was an understatement.

Good book. But unless you are a standup comedian, or an actor, you shouldn’t read a book you wrote

I miss these two
Revisado: 01-31-24
I was a senior in college when Gene died and it was oddly crushing. I didn’t realize how important that show was to me until it was gone. This story does a wonderful job of bringing these two greats back and telling their story. High recommend

Historia
Is my ordinary, everyday life actually significant? Is it okay to be fulfilled by the simple acts of raising kids, working in an office, and cooking chicken for dinner? Melanie Shankle tackles these questions head-on. Easygoing and relatable, she speaks directly to the heart of women of all ages who are longing to find significance and meaning in the normal, sometimes mundane world of driving carpool to soccer practice, attending class on their college campus, cooking meals for their family, or taking care of a sick loved one.

Only for secure dudes
Revisado: 07-06-23
I saw a review that said that this wasn’t for men and that she just talked about her dogs. Clearly the point was missed on that person as the book is literally called it’s all about the small things.
Well written and great performance. This book is for everyone not just women. The author has a great sense of humor and is highly relatable.

Now, demonstrating her majestic command of this story, Haberman reveals in full the depth of her understanding of the 45th president himself, and of what the Trump phenomenon means.

Terrifying
Revisado: 10-25-22
Big take away, Kamala Harris refused to bring a lawsuit against Trump university. The thing about Trump is he forced people to show their true colors and revealed what most already knew: Everyone is in it for themselves regardless of what is good for everyone else.
Trump knows this very well and acts accordingly. This book paints the picture of a man who was almost never told no his entire life. Trump always had an escape hatch until he pushed it too far on January 6th. Like she says in the book he hits the ground for the first time without daddy or bankers or voters to bail the dipshit out.
Great storytelling and great performance.

Historia
When Carrie Fisher recently discovered the journals she kept during the filming of the first Star Wars movie, she was astonished to see what they had preserved—plaintive love poems, unbridled musings with youthful naiveté, and a vulnerability that she barely recognized. Today, her fame as an author, actress, and pop-culture icon is indisputable, but in 1977, Carrie Fisher was just a teenager with an all-consuming crush on her costar, Harrison Ford.

The best
Revisado: 10-25-17
Yes she sort of rambles here but I love her. She was/is/always will be a truly unique person who was as brave and fearless as her onscreen counterpart. There are some great laugh out loud moments but it will just leave you missing her. Worth the listen for shizzle
