Very autobiographical sometimes patronizing.

I am a Ted Cruz supporter, but did not expect half of the book to be an autobiography. The insights into history of Supreme Court justices was quite interesting and I thought the analysis of some of the cases to be simplistic and patronizing. I was troubled that Ted Cruz thinks that police can kick down your door without a warrant, and as long as they find evidence, it is Ok to use it. The language was simplistic and I was not very compelled by the reader.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is an informative look at the food industry, and I listened to encourage myself to stick to my low carb diet. Unfortunately, listening did the opposite: I found myself craving many of the chemical-laden foods the book chronicles. While I only cheated on my diet once (with a tiny pack of Smarties, not a package of Double Stuffed Oreos), I need to warn others that the constant references to junk food made the listening experience an exercise in willpower.
Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Brick is a good narrator, but his style is better suited to fiction as opposed to non-fiction. I found his intonations a bit over-dramatic at times.

What made the experience of listening to Memoirs of a Geisha the most enjoyable?
Golden paints a vivid picture of life in Japan in the 30s. It is a poignant, albeit somewhat creepy, love story. I had my memories of actually reading the book years ago to keep me going; otherwise, I would have returned it.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Emote! Golden's writing is much, much better than presented in this audiobook.

Best one so far.
Who was your favorite character and why?
This first-person narrative has one main character, and he is a science stud with a good sense of humor. Thoroughly likeable.
What does R. C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His wry delivery is perfect.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
We started this audiobook on three hour drive and continued listening once we arrived at our destination.

Worth every penny. Better than the movie!
