Fun mystery
Revisado: 09-17-24
The story kept my interest but I think listening made it a little hard to follow the back and forth method of storytelling.

When Vivien Walker left her home in the Mississippi Delta, she swore never to go back, as generations of the women in her family had. But in the spring, nine years to the day since she'd left, that's exactly what happens - Vivien returns, fleeing from a broken marriage and her lost dreams for children. What she hopes to find is solace with "Bootsie", her dear grandmother who raised her, a Walker woman with a knack for making everything all right. But instead she finds that her grandmother has died and that her estranged mother is drifting further away from her memories.

Entertaining Listen
Revisado: 03-14-20
I listened to this story over several months while waiting for walking weather to come back to Minnesota. After all that time it kept my interest. It was a good mystery and well told. I did wonder why Vivian didn’t have a southern accent.

This was highly disappointing. It wasn’t funny or cheerful as one would expect. It was free so I got what I paid for!

If there’s anything they can count on, it’s each other. Clementine and Erika are each other’s oldest friends. A single look between them can convey an entire conversation. But theirs is a complicated relationship, so when Erika mentions a last minute invitation to a barbecue with her neighbors, Tiffany and Vid, Clementine and Sam don’t hesitate.

Really good listen

I actually might have rated this 5 star except I compared it to her other books most of which I liked a little better. It was a fun listen. It kept my interest. She is certainly one of my top favorite authors.

Historia
Love, Lucy is the valentine Lucille Ball left for her fans—a warm, wise, and witty memoir written by Lucy herself. The legendary star of the classic sitcom I Love Lucy was at the pinnacle of her success when she sat down to record the story of her life. No comedienne had made America laugh so hard, no television actress had made the leap from radio and B movies to become one of the world’s best-loved performers. This is her story—in her own words.

I loved this memoir
Revisado: 03-17-19
This is one of the most interesting memoirs or even stories that I've listened to. I was amazed that she spoke so highly of so many people. Found the whole story interesting. Lucie does her dad's accent very well. I just wanted it in her mother's voice which I realize was impossible.

I bought this book on sale not knowing what it was. Both the story and the reading was excellent. Narrator did a good job on the voices and accents. I didn’t expect to really love this one but I did.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Entertaining way to spend an hour

I listened while walking and it kept my interest. Lane does a good job with the southern accent required. The story was good until the last part which seemed to be missing something. But it is worth the time spent to hear it.
