Great writing, but bad audio quality

The review title pretty much says it all. This is a wonderful story with clever, insightful moments that also managed to be funny and entertaining. Unfortunately, the audio quality of this book is not very good. It sounds like an old radio playing at the bottom of a well. Turning the volume of the device up very high, allowed me to listen to it anyway, but this caused the audio to occasionally spike uncomfortably and becomes somewhat distorted. Anyway, as a blind person, I would rather have bad audio quality than no audiobook at all. Still it would be nice to have a better version with better audio quality.

Good book, but fair warning about sequel

Warning, the sequel of this book is erotica.

I really enjoyed this book, it was fun, had funny moments and was action-packed. I was very excited for more of this series, however, I was very surprised and disappointed to realize that the next book in this series is erotica. The dialogue in book 2 is filled with sexual innuendos out of a porn movie as well as a couple explicit sex scenes. I would’ve liked to have gotten a warning about that before I purchased book too, which is why I’m taking the time to leave this review. All of that being said I genuinely did enjoy this first book and would recommend it, but do not expect the series to be like this one

Unexpected change of tone

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and was excited to see how the series would progress, so I was very disappointed with how different book 2 was. My main issue isn’t with the unexpected explicit sex scenes but more with the dialogue of the book in general. To give credit to the author, they do a very clever thing by keeping the sex scenes contained in easy to skip chapters called interludes. The problem is, that the book overall has a constant sexual undertone, and specifically the dialogue is filled with constant sexual innuendo. I suppose this is the authors idea of humor. While there was some sexual innuendo in book one, it was minor and felt more like teasing. In this book, the sexual innuendo and puns were, so constant it felt like dialogue out of a bad porn movie and more like sexual harassment than teasing. It is especially annoying because book one was so different making it feel like a bait and switch.

More cool stuff

This is an amazing series so far, and I can’t wait for more. I thought the characters growth and overall progression has been great. I appreciate that. There are some video game themes, but they are kept minimal. This has become one of my favorite series and I am very excited to see where the story goes.

Very cool stuff

I found this to be a very enjoyable book. It is a fun action packed story with a cool style on top. Overall great writing that made me want to know more about this world and the characters. It was also a pleasure to listen to with great narration.

Very nicely done

This book is all good vibes. A very pleasant appreciation for the simple pleasures of life, great characters, laid-back slice of life, moments, and just a hint of action. This was a truly enjoyable listen. As always, great narration.

This is fun stuff

I very much enjoyed this book, it was a fun, fast-paced story with great characters and world building. I am excited to continue this series. Also, the narration was excellent. My only complaint is that the stat messages for the main character are excessively long, But that doesn’t actually affect the story and I can fast forward through those parts, so it’s still a five star for me.

This was a cool and funny story. Overall of very enjoyable read/listen. I thought the narrator did a great job as well. This is my first book by this author, and I will definitely be looking for more.

Cringe worthy harem story

As a general rule, I usually don’t take the time to write bad reviews, I figure artist subjective, and it’s not worth hating on other peoples art. However, in this case, I think there are a few things I wish I would have been warned about before buying this book. I think my main problem is that the description of this book felt misleading because it didn’t mention the overall sexual tone of the book and specifically the buildup towards a harem. I am not a prudish person and usually have no issue with sexual Contant in my books. However, I usually try to avoid books with a specific focus on harems because they tend to feel like the cringe writing of a horny teenager describing a power trip fantasy. Perhaps other people familiar with this author Felt as if he was holding back because in this book he does not explicitly describe the sexual act, but I would almost prefer explicit erotic content over this awkward, main character being worshiped by all the women in the book. The sexualization of women in this book felt uncomfortable overall, and the fact that the writing was bad, at times repetitive and definitely in need of an editor did not help. Unfortunately, the combination of writing and narration made the book in general and specifically the dialogue feel stilted and unnatural, almost as if written by an AI. On the plus side, the narration for the AI character in the book was well done. I personally will not continue this series and will remember this author‘s name so I can avoid their books in the future, but if you are a male interested in power trip, fantasies and harems, then you might like this, I suppose there are worst ways to waste your time.

This was a great story, great writing, and great narration. The summary description is good and not much more needs to be said. If you are familiar with this author, then you know, he writes consistently good stuff. If not, get ready for a fun action, packed adventure.
