Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

writing this awful just adds to the misery

it’s a shame that the terrible ineptitude of the author’s “craft” steals attention from the terrific work done here as a historian and interviewer. really top notch work was done to inform this project. in sum:

Mostly Not AB/DL
Revisado: 01-22-22
There are only a couple stories (out of 10) that even touch on AB/DL themes - and these are both good and well performed by the reader.
The rest are a jumble of various themes involving older men and younger women. There’s a place for that stuff and, I’m sure, an audience as well. It’s just not here and it’s not me. I feel ripped off and disrespected by the author.

staggering in scope
Revisado: 12-01-21
However you view it, the 3 Body Problem trilogy casts a wide view of the Universe and Dilla it in with rich detail. At once a grand overview of time on the largest scales AND a primer on alien sociology (the function of alien civilizations), these books are must reads. Exciting and frightening and challenging and thought-provoking.

Historia
The collapse of The Flow, the interstellar pathway between the planets of the Interdependency, has accelerated. Entire star systems - and billions of people - are becoming cut off from the rest of human civilization. This collapse was foretold through scientific prediction...and yet, even as the evidence is obvious and insurmountable, many still try to rationalize, delay and profit from, these final days of one of the greatest empires humanity has ever known.

flawless performance, terrific storytelling
Revisado: 05-02-21
Scalzi has quite a knack for clever, oft-comedic (yet not a comedy) dialogue, fleshing out a tight plot about the end times of a human civilization. it's hard not to draw parallels with global warming, yet he does not beat you over the head with it. wild Wheaton is simply supern

Historia
Tom Wolfe's best-selling modern classic tells the story of Sherman McCoy, an elite Wall Street bond trader who has it all: wealth, power, prestige, a Park Avenue apartment, a beautiful wife, and an even more beautiful mistress - until one wrong turn sends Sherman spiraling downward into a humiliating fall from grace. A car accident in the Bronx involving Sherman, his girlfriend, and two young lower-class Black men sets a match to the incendiary racial and social tensions of 1980s New York City.

absolutely flawless performance

likely, your opinion of Tim Wolfe's novel is fixed - but let me tell you, this reading is volcanic and hilarious. really refreshed the book for me.
that said, I still have issuea with some of the racial stereotypes Wolfe deploys, even though his use was satirical.
