Historia
It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on. I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine. It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back.

Historia
Maggie is an unapologetically grumpy forty-eight-year-old hermit. But when her college-aged son makes her a deal—he’ll be more social if she does the same—she can’t refuse. She joins a new online gaming guild led by a friendly healer named Otter. So that nobody gets the wrong idea, she calls herself Bogwitch. Otter is Aiden, a fifty-year-old optimist using the guild as an emotional outlet from his family drama caring for his aging mother while his brother plays house with Aiden’s ex-fiancée.

Thought this was a cute, fluffy story. Didn't love the narrator though & that kept taking me out of the story

Historia
Kell is one of the last Travelers - magicians with a rare, coveted ability to travel between parallel universes. As such, he can choose where he lands. There's Grey London, dirty and boring, without any magic, ruled by a mad King George. Then there's Red London, where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. There's White London, ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne. And once upon a time, there was Black London...but no one speaks of that now.

I wanted to like this story. I didn't. I never felt compelled to keep reading or like I was invested in the story. It wasn't painful, it just wasn't interesting

Personally, I found the MC annoying which made it hard for me to enjoy this book. The characters do feel like real people with flaws.

Historia
Growing up in Emerald Lakes, population 682, had been safe and comfortable. Running my own magic shop and making a living off my green witchcraft, I have no complaints. Sure, there’s my ex, who never understood the word "no", but there’s also the lovable and eccentric townspeople who feel more like one huge extended family, and let’s not forget my boy-crazed Gran who keeps us all on our toes. Strange, unnatural things are brewing in Emerald Lakes, and I can’t ignore the sinking suspicion that something life-changing is headed my way.

Doesn't feel like a stand alone
Revisado: 05-27-19
This book feels like the beginning of a story. There is a lot of world building and there were a couple of instances where it felt like an info dump. The story is ok but it feels more like this is a world building book for a future series. From what I've seen, it doesn't look like this is part of a series. As a stand alone book, I feel like it's a let down. However, if it were part of a series I would read book 2.

Like a Campy Movie?
Revisado: 10-24-18
Moments of this book were enjoyable but for the most part the main character made this story frustrating. I'm not sure he has flaws beyond some physical scars? But don't worry, the women still love him. He came across as a power fantasy, not a person. Other than that, the ridiculous amount of detail about weapons (not just one, each weapon has a long, detailed description), & the forced romance/love triangle the book is a nice monster of the week, slightly campy story, which I usually enjoy. If those things don't bother you in a story then this could be a great series for you, but those are pet peeves of mine, so this one just isn't for me. I felt Wyman did a good job narrating and voicing characters.

Enjoyable story
Revisado: 05-01-18
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review
I enjoyed this story. I enjoyed the flow of the story and found some of the problems the characters faced very intriguing. Occasionally I would feel like a character was behaving in a way that didn't fit with their overarching behavior. I really enjoyed the different voices Wade used to differentiate between characters. They were distinct which really helps me when I listen to a book.

Enjoyable story
Revisado: 04-19-18
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. Occasionally I felt like Conklin's rhythm and inflection didn't match what was happening in the story and I could have done with a little more differentiation between some character voices. Aside from that I thought he did a good job.
The story manages to pack a lot in. I wish certain parts were expanded on more but because I was curious and intrigued by them, not because the story seemed lacking.
