Historia
Mark Rivers was a firefighter until he got trapped in a wildfire and suffered third-degree burns on his face and body. After a year of recovering, Mark is trying to piece his life back together but struggles both emotionally and psychologically. He's been a recluse until he forces himself to attend his niece's school play and sees Riley, the school's art teacher. Immediately, Mark feels a connection to her. Maybe it's the kind way she greets his niece or the way the art she created for the school play is reminiscent of his late mom's artwork.

Historia
In her Audible Original A Short Drink of Water, Altman challenges the assumption that taller is better. Her journey to empower those at the short end of the stick (and why is it always the short end?) delivers a hilarious and heartfelt look at the differences between tall and short and how people seek to narrow them both physically and psychologically. You’ll meet people of every size and opinion in this deeply reported and richly comical ride through a world where every inch counts.

This 'short' read was like seeing a smudge on my worldview spectacles that I did not know was there. Humour and truth opening new thought. Well worth the listen.

An authentic, beautifully written listen
Revisado: 05-07-21
I liked the real insight that the tastefully crafted story opened regarding unconscious biased around issues of race, disability and generational worldview. It was so subtle that I am not sure it was intended, but as a white, disabled person I appreciated having my eyes opened. I would recommend to any aspiring young writer. and would love to hear more.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

A long journey to justice
Revisado: 01-10-21
This interesting, well paced story leads the reader on an adventurous journey of human emotion, from tyrannical injustice, through unsettling pangs of loss, revenge, bewilderment and, finally, the joy of hard earned justice and community building, with all sorts of everyday characters playing theirpart. A gripping read with a somewhat hasty, yet satisfying resolution.
