I’ve read many books of this genre,this one ranks as a favorite. The words sing as the author narrates his family’s deeply caring love for the land and the creatures they support.

I have read most of Sy Montgomerys’ books. I loved them all. This one was so short it felt far more like a journal article, the form in which it t was originally published. I preordered this book with excited anticipation. I felt left hanging at the end, waiting for more.

He spends as much time telling us the map coordinates of where an event happened as he does telling the stories at each location. Could have been fascinating, instead it is maddening.
