Historia
After years of bullying and cajoling others as a high-flying public relations boss, Agatha Raisin’s early retirement to the picture-postcard village of Carsley in the Cotswolds is a dream come true. And how better to begin making herself a local leading light than by entering the village quiche-making competition? Unburdened by old-fashioned ideas of fair play, the ruthless Agatha decides to ensure she wins by buying her entry from a London delicatessen.

Historia
In the delightful Cotswold village of Carsely, the air is heady with romance. Agatha Raisin is convinced that the new vet has taken a shine to her. But before she can get anywhere, handsome Dr. Paul Bladen is accidentally killed while attending to Lord Pendlebury’s horse. So was it really an accident? All the evidence points that way, but the circumstances are decidedly suspicious....

Narrator ruins the book

I loved the first book of the series. I didn't realize that the second book has a different narrator. She ruins the book.
I couldn't take it. I was listen for only 13 minutes. I bet the story is great, but take my advise and skip this one and go right to the 3rd book of Agatha Raisin narrated by Penelope Keith. She is great!!

Didn't like it as much as the first one
Revisado: 10-29-16
Any additional comments?
The story dragged on a bit. Got a bit bored and tired of Barry questioning his employer motives. I liked the first book as there was not much emphasis on love live rather the patients story was in the foreground.
It is different in this book. Got bored with the love live of Barry. A bit more difficult to skip forward in an audio book than a book :)
Narrator needs to work on his performance with female characters.
Won't get the third book of this series.

Listen to the Audiobook. It is hilarious!!!
Revisado: 09-15-16
Any additional comments?
Not sure if many listened to the original speeches of A. Hitler, but the narrator came so close. .. I don't think the book can make you laugh as much as the audiobook. The narrator was really great. The only reason why I didn't give the performance all the stars was that I had the feeling he lost the "Hitler" accent at the end a bit.
Several times through the book, I laughed out loud. I had to stop listening to it during workout :D
I wanted to order the book (unabridged version), but must admit that I am glad that I listen to the audiobook (abridged). Even the abridged version dragged from time to time. Nevertheless I can only recommend it.

Charley sees dead people. That's right, she sees dead people. And it's her job to convince them to "go into the light." But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e., murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she's been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.

Nothing new
Revisado: 06-09-16
Any additional comments?
I love supernatural books, but there are way to many books like this one: There is a women who checks into murders with abilities/gift (I don't mind that), who gets beaten up all the time, wise cracking and smart a*, and of course is super hot and naturally there is a super hot guy who is totally into her. If you are looking for a book like that, then you will like it very much.Seriously, can't they come up with something different? Additional, it was way to much erotic stuff for my taste. Making out with a ghost like entity in a room full of people was not my cup of tea. The sex scenes were in my eyes unnecessary. Story overall was decent just nothing new, narrator was acceptable.

Loved it !!!

Oh my gosh, I loved this audio book. The narrator did an excellent job. The writing was smooth and the story was awesome. I don't even know how I should express how much I loved this book.
I didn't even care that she took some liberties in the story. For example following my research (internet) Manduchai married her adopted son when he was 19 years old. In this book she married him when he was 5 or so.
Anyway, for that the author produced a great story. I don't blame her for taking an creating approach.
If you want to brush up your German, this is the book to listen to.

As so many already mentioned it is the German translation to "Memoirs of a Geisha". The narrator did a great job (she didn't overact as so many others do). I heard a lot of good things about this book so I was a bit disappointed. I think the writing style got impacted in the translation. In this regard I was not impressed. The story though I liked a lot. It is definitely worth while listening to, but I do want to read it English, so I can compare.

why are the female protagonists always immature
Revisado: 12-01-14
What was most disappointing about Rose Pressey’s story?
I love books about psychics and witches and so on. But I can't find a book in which the heroine is acting like an adult. They are all very immature.
This book is no difference.
For example, the protagonist goes to a first day with a gorgeous guy. The date is going great. She has to leave town over the weekend and her BFF tells her when she got back that he was hanging out with another woman. So she decides to ignore the gorgeous guy, who is obviously head over heels for her. Then he comes by asks her out for another date and she is wondering what his agenda is ? She is acting weird and curd. Really ???
Is that so hard to do the mature thing and maybe talk about it ?
I am maybe half way through this book and there is more about the lips and great hands of the guy next door than any other subject.
Additional I am so tired of that cliché of the best friend being reckless and dragging the protagonist in strange situations. Can't they come up with something else ?
Overall, not happy with the book

Narrator way to dramatic
Revisado: 06-20-14
Would you try another book from Alexandre Dumas and/or Bill Homewood?
maybe a book from A. Dumas but not narrated by Bill Homewood
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the transformation of E. Dumas. From a naive person to feeling only hatred and then being able to forgive and regretting his actions.
What didn’t you like about Bill Homewood’s performance?
It was way, way to dramatized. For example the "Nooooo" or "Yeeees" of Noirtier was too much. I would have liked a more subtle performance. At times it was so exaggerated that I had to take a break and read/listen to other books. I would have changed the narrator but this was as far as I could see the only audio version for syncing between book and audio.
