Poetry in Prose
Revisado: 07-02-19
I am so glad I listened to the audible version of this book. Carolyn Forche narrating her own story is just so powerful. Because she's a poet, she writes with a sense of rhythm, and it comes through so much when she reads.
It created this amazing juxtaposition between the absolute beauty of her language and the terrible things she was describing that really brings that awfulness into focus.
I would recommend this book to anyone, but even more do I recommend the audible version.

Historia
The youngest, half-goblin son of the Emperor has lived his entire life in exile, distant from the Imperial Court and the deadly intrigue that suffuses it. But when his father and three sons in line for the throne are killed in an "accident," he has no choice but to take his place as the only surviving rightful heir. Entirely unschooled in the art of court politics, he has no friends, no advisors, and the sure knowledge that whoever assassinated his father and brothers could make an attempt on his life at any moment.

I Love this Book
Revisado: 07-02-19
I decided to listen to this book a couple of years after reading it. I loved the book just as much as I had before.
I did have some trouble keeping minor characters straight because their titles were all the same, so it was only last name that differentiate them. I had a bit easier time with the printed book.
But still, this was wonderful to listen to as I had a lot of driving to do, and I fell in love with Maia and his court just as easily as I had before.

Great Family Road Trip Book
Revisado: 07-02-19
I really enjoyed this book. While there were times at the beginning (before I got to know the characters) when I was confused as to who was speaking, and times at the end where the choreography of the fight scenes lost me, for the most part I thought this was an easy to follow story.
I think it would make a great book to listen to on a family road trip. The book is appropriate to almost all ages, and the frequent chapter breaks means you are never far from a good stopping point, which can be super important when traveling.
