Historia
After years on the road performing at sold-out venues, Tyson Motsenbocker returned home to the impending death of his 57-year-old hero and mother. He begged God to heal her, but she died anyway. When they buried her body, Tyson also buried the childhood version of his faith. Shortly before her death, however, Tyson became intrigued by the complicated legacy of Father Junipero Serra, the 18th-century Franciscan monk and canonized saint who dedicated his life to the idea that tragedy and suffering are portals to renewal.

The whale story
Revisado: 02-10-24
There’s a time in everyone’s life that this book will be invaluable. I’m not going to suggest that you’re going to love it or even enjoy it, depends on where you’re at in your journey to understand things past the superficial answers we’re fed the majority of the time. But if you are ready to wrestle with uncomfortable topics, give it a try. To the author, there’s a few people I’d like to meet after death: Corrie Ten Boom, Freddy Steinmark, Tyson Motsenbocker, and his mom. Thank you for sharing.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Moving, relatable, raw
Revisado: 10-08-22
This is not what I expected. Honestly I’m not sure what I expected with a title like this, but seeing this Nickelodeon tween star on tv as I grew up, I never imagined that there was anything going on to this degree under the surface. Jeanette’s witty and raw writing style makes the reader a part of the story with her. I hate that she went through it but appreciate her vulnerability to share it all with the world. If she wants to keep writing, I’ll be reading whatever she puts out there.
