Historia
What would happen if we were to awaken one day and suddenly realize that the world we live in appeared eerily alien, as if we'd been teleported to some other distant world? That frightening prospect is now. Our planetary hydrosphere, which animates all of life on Earth, is rebelling in the wake of a global warming climate, spurring biblical spring floods, devastating summer droughts, heatwaves, and wildfires and powerful autumn hurricanes and typhoons, wreaking havoc on ecosystems and society.

Long winded word salad
Revisado: 12-22-24
Who is this book for? Wrapped in a word salad of over complicated terminology and convolved syntax, this book contains nuggets of novelty but a little of substance. If the aim is to educate and reach out to those who do not already care this topic, then the book is an utter failure. If this book is intended titillate, the intellect of the already convinced, it’s about as useful as an extra helping of pie after Christmas dinner. This book discusses one of the most important issues facing mankind today. It is important. It needs to reach out to those who do not understand and especially those who remain ignorant, but can still make a difference. Wrapped in soporific, mono-tonal delivery (in audiobook format) this book misses the mark completely. I wish it were different. It should have been different from an author of this caliber and deserved reputation.

Historia
In December 1960, Crystal Singer, her boyfriend Rick, and three other MIT grad students take a cross-country road trip from Boston to Arizona to paint a message in the desert. Mars has been silent for thirty years, since the last time Earth solved one of the mathematical proofs the Martian civilization carved onto its surface. The latest proof, which seems to assert contradictory truths about distance, has resisted human understanding for decades. Crystal thinks she’s solved it, and Rick is intent on putting her answer to the test.

Historia
Electra McDonnell has always known that the way she and her family earn their living is slightly outside of the law. Breaking into the homes of the rich and picking the locks on their safes may not be condoned by British law enforcement, but World War II is in full swing, Ellie's cousins, Colm and Toby, are off fighting against Hitler, and Uncle Mick's more honorable business as a locksmith can't pay the bills anymore. So when Uncle Mick receives a tip about a safe full of jewels in the empty house of a wealthy family, he and Ellie can’t resist.

Historia
Our universe has been growing for nearly 14 billion years. But almost everything about it, from the elements that forged stars, planets, and lifeforms, to the fundamental forces of physics, can be traced back to what happened in just the first three minutes of its existence. In this book, Nobel Laureate Steven Weinberg describes in wonderful detail what happened in these first three minutes.

This is by far the worst
Revisado: 08-05-23
I have over 150 audiobooks. Many of these are on science with good number on physics. I have a reasonable grasp of general physics having studied and taught geophysics at university for many years and a keen general interest in astrophysics. This book is among the most boring and impenetrable of them all. It’s not that the content is inherently boring Physics is fascinating and accessible to the educated reader… what spoils this narrative is it’s unsuitability for audiobook format. This becomes quickly apparent to the listener and rapidly strips further enjoyment. It becomes tedious and boring. This is a fascinating subject and I would recommend anyone interested to buy the physical book- although to be honest, the content is now somewhat out of date, so I would more likely find for a more recent publication on the subject by the same author.

Historia
The first Plantagenet king inherited a blood-soaked kingdom from the Normans and transformed it into an empire that stretched at its peak from Scotland to Jerusalem. In this epic history, Dan Jones vividly resurrects this fierce and seductive royal dynasty and its mythic world. We meet the captivating Eleanor of Aquitaine, twice queen and the most famous woman in Christendom; her son, Richard the Lionheart, who fought Saladin in the Third Crusade; and King John, a tyrant who was forced to sign Magna Carta, which formed the basis of our own Bill of Rights.

Historia
Scientists have long attempted to understand Earth’s past, and in service to that effort, they have divided the world’s history into eons, eras, periods, epochs, and ages. The Triassic Period: The History and Legacy of the Geologic Era that Witnessed the Rise of Dinosaurs looks at the development of the era, the extinction events that preceded it, and how dinosaurs began to evolve in the Late Triassic. You will learn about the Triassic Period like never before.

Should never be an audio book
Revisado: 05-22-20
This lightening whizz through the Triassic has nothing going for it pedagogically. Without illustration it becomes a catalog of often mispronounced Latin names that is dry and uninformative. Many of the views and theories are out dated and hint of bias against the view that carbon dioxide can become damaging to the environment. The section on ocean acidification is particularly ill informed, minimizing the possible impact of ocean acidification because CO2 levels in the past were higher and marine life survived. This displays a disappointing grasp of the underlying science. In summary: outdated, dull and boring. You can do better.
