Historia
Just hours after humans are born, the gods take what little power we have. In return, they protect our borders from the vicious, merciless fae. The humans who manage to keep their power are known as the corrupt. And they are burned. When my forbidden power is discovered, I’m forced to flee my tiny village and the life I adore. To survive, I make a desperate bargain with the mercenary who abandoned me at my weakest moment. Our deal is simple: I’ll help him and his mysterious friends sneak into the city, and he’ll help me learn to wield the strange, dark power I’ve always kept hidden.

Start of one of my favorite series!
Revisado: 03-09-25
I absolutely love this book and series. This story is very well written and the narrators did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. The plot is intriguing and fast paced. The characters are well developed. The banter is fun. The main characters both have depth and motive and there is a whole cast of side characters that are just as well rounded as the main characters. I would 100% recommend this book to anyone and everyone I could.

Interesting Take
Revisado: 01-14-25
Great narration by Eleanor Tomlinson. She captures the broodiness and innocence of Hel so well.
I love the twist on the mythology from Hel’s eyes. Seeing things through the eyes of a young woman who is often seen as a villain for simply doing the job thrusted upon her (goddess of death). It was very well done without seeming to be a villain arc story that tries to redeem the way they act in the much loved stories we know. Instead it was what we know from mythology but from her perspective and showed the same story from a different set of eyes and it made for a nice quick listen.
While there isn’t a whole lot of action, it is simple and still enjoyable and kept my interest.

Story started with potential
Revisado: 11-12-24
Overall, I would say this book wasn’t for me. It started off with real potential but felt like the further in I got the less I enjoyed it. It felt like a lot of build up for a very fast result that seemed too easy to pull off. And the things that happen afterwards didn’t make sense to me.
(Spoiler: why would your new allies want to send the girl with five dragons back to her enemies for peace and expect her to go willingly?)
The relationship between Elowen and Cayden felt more like horny teenagers than anything real or built up. And their provocative banter was on the cringey side.
Overall I liked the narration. I felt like she embodied Elowen, I didn’t particularly care for her male characters voices. It took away from the flow and just didn’t feel right.

Historia
With ailing family to support, Evie Sage's employment status isn't just important, it's vital. So when a mishap with Rennedawn's most infamous Villain results in a job offer—naturally, she says yes. No job is perfect, of course, but even less so when you develop a teeny crush on your terrifying, temperamental, and undeniably hot boss. Don't find evil so attractive, Evie. But just when she's getting used to severed heads suspended from the ceiling and the odd squish of an errant eyeball beneath her heel, Evie suspects this dungeon has a huge rat . . . and not just the literal kind.

Such a fun listen!
Revisado: 09-24-24
This was such a fun story. I loved the banter between the characters. It felt natural and made me laugh. I love Evie’s character arch and understanding the Villain, as well as the side characters.
I loved Em’s narrative. She did an excellent job and sounds just how I image Evie would and it made the whole listening experience better.
I would definitely recommend this book. It’s a quick read/listen and most of all it was a fun one. I’m looking forward to starting the next book.

To enter the woods as a human means death… But I am no mere human. They call me, “witch.” As one of the last surviving witches, Faelyn’s sole duty is to keep the protective barriers on the forests where the lykin roam—creatures who can shed flesh for fur—sparing nearby humans from their violent, beastly natures. When she has an unlikely encounter with the rare, primordial spirit of the moon, Faelyn finds herself not only the object of the Wolf King’s desire, but essential to his ability to keep his crown.

Another great Married to Magic
Revisado: 08-07-24
I love the whole Married to Magic series and this final edition is no exception. I love the characters in this book and the world as a whole from book to book. Elise creates a fantastic and consistent world that with each book we see a little more of. I love the story telling of Faelyn and Evander’s tale and the narrator did an excellent job of bringing it to life.

Love the storytelling
Revisado: 07-09-24
First off I loved the story. Secondly I loved the way this was narrated. I loved the dual narrators and that whether it was Aramis or Sybil’s POV Anthony did all the male voices and Jacci did all the female. Both did an excellent job and made the story really come alive. I also really liked the occasional background music and sound effects. It really enhanced the story and added to the tension.

It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. Great narrator telling an amazing story.
Revisado: 11-24-23
I absolutely love this series! It’s fast pace and gut wrenching and one thrill of a ride. I love the narrator. I think she does amazing and has me on the edge of my seat. She perfectly portrays the emotions going on in the high intense battles and in the softer ones. She is a great narrator and brings so much to the storytelling performance.
