Ditching the 2nd narrator would have improved this
Revisado: 05-14-17
What about Lorelei King and George Newbern ’s performance did you like?
I love this series. And although it took me an hour in the first book to warm up to her, I think Lorelei King does a fabulous job. Amazing really. And she does it with all of the characters, even the male ones. So I have no f**ing clue why the producers felt the need to add a male narrator to do the chapters from Adam's point of view. The performance of the new narrator, George Newbern, fell far short of Lorelei King's. Adam didn't seem like a strong alpha. His accents weren't that great. He stressed the wrong word sometimes. Overall, I was not impressed with his ability to bring the characters to life.

Good story, not fond of the narrator
Revisado: 04-03-17
What did you like best about Eyes Only for Me? What did you like least?
I like GFY stories, and this one was well done. It wasn't a complete 180; more of a realization of something that was there all along, but easily ignored.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator had really weird intonation a lot of times. A lot of lines were delivered like a cheesy 80s porn movie.

Historia
Wealthy, attractive Lucas Reika treats life like a party, moving from bar to bar and man to man. Thumbing his nose at his restaurateur father's demand that he earn his keep, Lucas instead seduces a valued employee in the kitchen of their flagship restaurant, earning himself an ultimatum: lose access to his father's money or stay in the middle of nowhere with a man he has secretly lusted over from afar.

Too sappy, and narrator irritates me
Revisado: 06-03-16
What did you like best about McFarland's Farm? What did you like least?
The book had an interesting premise, but I had a hard time figuring out what Jared would even see in Lucas - the author spends a lot of time portraying him as a spoiled, selfish, entitled brat, and then that seems to disappear. Poof!
Then once the characters had sex, it was insta-love, with sappy moments and saccharine dialogue. Barf.
I've listened to a few books by this narrator now. If I'd noticed who narrated this, I wouldn't have bought it. He uses the same two voice types for every book (accent may vary): a deep, husky voice, and a nasal, whiny, voice which ends each sentence with vocal fry: "Why-eeee?".
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
See above: barf.

Historia
Skylar is used to the way people think of him as frightening, mean, and dangerous. Snakes are not the most popular shifters around and the fact he grew up wild doesn't help. He knows the way he's chosen to live alone in the woods only makes things worse, but he didn't think it meant people thought him capable of killing a couple of wolf puppies. Determined to find the real monster who left them to die, Skylar calls up the only wolf he knows, a man he always wished would see him as more than a snake...

Not a fan.
Revisado: 02-22-16
What disappointed you about Backwoods Asylum?
I was disapointed with the storyline. It was too simplistic, and the adoption aspect required way too much suspension of disbelief. "We all think (unfailry) that you are unstable. But here, adopt two babies anyway! That you didn't even apply for! Sure, we'll let someone else apply on your behalf without ever telling you or doing a background check!".
Would you ever listen to anything by Megan Derr again?
Probably not
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
I've listened to a few things by this narrator now, and he's just meh.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It was cute, in a superficial way.

Historia
Forty-five-year-old English professor Nathan Qells is very good at making people feel important. What he's not very good at is sticking around afterward. He's a nice guy; he just doesn't feel things the way other people do. So even after all the time he's spent taking care of Michael, the kid across the hall, he doesn't realize that Michael's mob muscle uncle and guardian, Andreo Fiore, has slowly been falling in love with him. Dreo has bigger problems than getting Nate to see him as a potential partner.

There ought to be a Mary Calmes drinking game
Revisado: 07-11-15
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Not if you've previously read a Mary Calmes novel before.Mary Calmes books are becoming very repetitive for me, and I've only read a handful. This is a shame, because the premise of the story is good. However, this is basically the same novel she's written several times before, with just a different setting. The story is always told from the view of a man whom everyone loves and adores on sight, and whom even straight men want. He always wants to fix everyone else's problems, and they let him. There are always children who love him. He is always a bottom, and always secretly craves the dominance of a stronger man though he's afraid to let them in at first. He always has problems staying focused, with his thoughts constantly wandering and other characters interrupting them to remind him that they asked him a question. His main love interest is always a big, strong, super-alpha male with possessive tendencies. There is ALWAYS at least one ex who can't seem seem to let the MC go, and a couple other would-be love interests as well. After all, we have to establish how desirable the MC is. There is always lots going on in the background, with way too many secondary characters that add nothing to the story except for more people who adore the MC.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Sean Crisden?
Anyone else - I was not a fan of the narrator. He seemed to have difficulty infusing the characters' voices any sort of emotion except for petulance.

Wonderful performance and emotionally satisfying
Revisado: 07-09-15
Where does Hot Head rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is one of the best novels I've ever listened to, in any genre. I have several scenes bookmarked and will listen to them again.
Have you listened to any of Charlie David’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I'd read the Boy who Came In From The Cold. I hadn't been super impressed then, but that was a bit of an annoying book to begin with. This one is MUCH better, and I was blown away by his performance.

Historia
Along with Wit, Charm, Health, and Courage, Princess Amy of Phantasmorania receives a special fairy christening gift: Ordinariness. Unlike her six beautiful sisters, she has brown hair and freckles, and would rather have adventures than play the harp, embroider tapestries . . . or become a Queen. When her royal parents try to marry her off, Amy runs away and, because she's so ordinary, easily becomes the 14th assistant kitchen maid at a neighboring palace.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I loved this story as a child, and enjoyed it again this time.
Any additional comments?
The narrator isn't very good. She speaks way too slowly, and in a sing-song tone of voice.

Revisado: 03-10-13
What does Joyce Bean bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I read this book a couple of years ago, and liked it. But the writing pace was almost frantic, and I found that I missed details (I read fast).
As an audiobook, I LOVED this book. I picked up a lot of small details that I missed when reading the book. The book is by turns funny, dramatic and suspenseful.
The narrator did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life
