Neither the author or his book were known by me when I picked a copy of the shelf of a Barnes & Noble bookstore. Looking at the table of contents I spotted a complete chapter “Birds-The Last Dinosaurs” and opening to it found 19 pages devoted to the evolution of dinosaurs to our birds.

Reading a few of the 19 pages convinced me to buy and after reading a few more pages on my return home I decided to purchase the Audible version as well. Reading & listening I find increases my comprehension.

The birds can be divided into two modern groups: large, primarily flightless creatures that lay big eggs and flighted, smaller birds that are most familiar. These two categories are described well in wonderful clear writing that communicates well when read aloud too. And this reader is excellent.

I encourage any interested to search YouTube for “The Lost World of Dinosaurs: Armin Schmitt” interviewed as part of a series Under Current Stories.

Two Thirds is End Times Concepts - Not Financial: And for me that is a good thing.

However, this is not a book about theology, but is a book that explains that factions within each of the three Abrahamic religions are for some reason inspired by the concept of a final reckoning.

I grew up in a Pentecostal church, literally. The parsonage was adjoined to the church. My parents were both ordained Pentecostal ministers. The words premillennialism and eschatology were unknown to me, but basic to what I was taught. I did know about the rapture and some kind of an apocalyptic ending of the world we know. These concepts terrorized my young mind. For fifty years since my decision to abandon the religion of my parents I have been drawn to read what supports my early decision.

I don't see good coming out of leaders using the fears of an apocalyptic ending to our world. I don't think that morality needs these sectarian controls. This book helps the reader discount the powerful delusions leaders of religions we are most familiar with use to great effect.

Meaningful to Me - Well Read

So much terrifying about my Pentecostal upbringing (both parents Pentecostal ministers) was developed by theologians' suspect interpretation of the Bible. A book as substantial as this is required to examine, on a case by case basis, what, in my lifetime, Graham et al preached in a way that mostly frightens, but is not logically supported. It would be most interesting to understand FitzGerald's motives and I've watched interviews (YouTube) for a hint, but without finding a clue. However, I suspect her reasons for researching and writing this background to Evangelical theology was the same as my reason for reading, to put some of these end of time concepts out of mind.

Roy read this appropriately and in a respectful tone.

This book was important to me and, after first reading it in hard copy, re-read it as I listened. The book will remain on my shelf for reference.

This provided an excellent review of the campaigns against western tribes from the Apaches to the Sioux. I measured the value of this writing by the useful review provided of the 1877 war with the Nez Perce. Just two weeks before listening (and reading the hard copy) to "The Earth is Weeping" I had read "Thunder in the Mountains: Chief Joseph, Oliver Otis Howard, and the Nez Perce War" by Daniel J. Sharfstein. Cozzens provides a very good summary in twenty pages that firmed up my understanding of what I had read in 500 pages in the dedicated volume. Readers will find it very useful to return to Cozzens when reading longer focused volumes and will be inspired by Cozzens to do more research. This is well read by Pruden.

If you don't know the meaning of "Indian Giver" you certainly will after reading this.
