Too much waffle
Revisado: 12-12-24
Some lessons but there’s just too much waffle, filler and the language used isn’t modern.

Very down to earth book
Revisado: 12-07-24
I was grossly put off by the title, so many how to get rich books. But then this was recommended to me and I have to say the content is great. I’ve heard some of it before but there’s still a lot of lessons to be made in this book.

Some good content, learned a few things. Their interview at the end wasn’t good, they sounded like a couple of clowns, lost a bit of respect for the book.

Historia
In The Quantum Universe, Brian Cox and Jeff Forshaw approach the world of quantum mechanics in the same way they did in Why Does E=mc2? and make fundamental scientific principles accessible - and fascinating - to everyone. The subatomic realm has a reputation for weirdness, spawning any number of profound misunderstandings, journeys into Eastern mysticism, and woolly pronouncements on the interconnectedness of all things. Cox and Forshaw's contention? There is no need for quantum mechanics to be viewed this way.

Too technical for an audiobook
Revisado: 06-22-24
This could be good as a textbook, but if I were reading a textbook, I’d have a different book with much more detail. As an audiobook, this is nearly impossible to follow; I expected a more theoretical discussion on quantum and the universe. You must always refer to the PDF, which is impossible at the gym, driving, etc.

Good lessons on economics
Revisado: 01-30-24
This book is very heavily US-focused; it would have been better if it was more world-focused and taught more fundamentals that apply to different countries.

Historia
The current crisis is not like 2008 or even 1929. The New Depression that has emerged from the COVID pandemic is the worst economic crisis in US history. Most fired employees will remain redundant. Bankruptcies will be common, and banks will buckle under the weight of bad debts. Deflation, debt, and demography will wreck any chance of recovery, and social disorder will follow closely on the heels of market chaos. The happy talk from Wall Street and the White House is an illusion. The worst is yet to come.

Fear mongering
Revisado: 03-23-21
He is overly negative of the future. I get worried when the fear mongers try to sell you gold. Also he recommends such a huge amount allocated towards cash and bonds due to deflation. I stand by the belief that central banks just won’t let deflation happen. For as long as there is a deflation threats, governments will keep printing money.
I learned a few things in this book but it does contradict what I think will happen.
I guess that’s why it’s a good idea to read books like this so you are aware of your biases.

Historia
The media often suggest that Russia poses the greatest threat to America's national security, but the real danger lies farther east. While those in power have been distracted and disorderly, China has waged a six-front war on America's economy, military, diplomacy, technology, education, and infrastructure - and they're winning. It's almost too late to undo the shocking, though nearly invisible, victories of the Chinese. In Stealth War, retired Air Force Brigadier General Robert Spalding reveals China's motives and secret attacks on the West.
