Light-hearted and entertaining

This book is like a light-hearted Buffy the Vampire Slayer (in that a gang of supernatural creatures team together to solve a mystery and beat some bad guys). Everyone was so nice to each other, it was like the Great British Baking Show of urban fantasy novels. Definitely recommend!

I was pretty excited about reading something created by Stan Lee, but the plot never took off for me. I have about 3 hours left in the book, and I don't think I will finish it.

Great sex AND great story!!

Their relationship felt very unhealthy

I like a good romance, but the relationship in this book made me cringe. The love interest violates the main character’s boundaries again and again, and the book tries to play it off as sexy and romantic. For example, he tricks her into having a date with him (she just wants sex). When she realizes it’s a date, she gets up to leave. So he physically keeps her there and says “if you try to leave I’ll tackle you.” (And she can see in his eyes that he isn’t joking.)
I get that the possessive bad boy is common in romance novels, but this felt like it crossed a line. I stopped listening a third of the way in, which was a bummer because I liked the side characters.
