Better Than Expected
Revisado: 07-12-24
I wasn't sure if I would like this book, and it took me a few minutes to get into it; however, the story soon picked up, and I found myself enjoying it far more than I anticipated. It's sweet and touching and a true love story.not just boy meets girl love story, but family love, sibling love, parental love.
I would've preferred a better reader. She did a fine job reading; however, she sounded far too old for the character.

But when their headmistress announces that The Weston School will merge with its rival the following year, their longtime feud spirals into chaos. To protect the school that has been her safe haven since her parents’ divorce, Doe puts together a plan to prove once and for all that Winfield boys and Weston girls just don’t mix, starting with a direct hit at Three, Winfield’s boy king and her nemesis.

Not just another Boarding School Rom-Com
Revisado: 04-27-23
Doe is clever and determined—to a fault.
Boarding school is a haven for Doe. She wants nothing to change even after she graduates. But she learns that the girls’ school plans to merge with the rival boys’ school, and Doe is determined to stop the merger in its tracks.
With unlikely allies, fall-out among prankster friends, and heartbreak that shows her a future blowing up in her face, Doe compels the reader to cheer for her, while wanting to shake her.
I bought this book after reading the other book Audible has by Samantha Markum. No regrets in the purchase. I’ll enjoy reading it again in a year or so.

A Definite Keeper
Revisado: 04-27-23
I bought this book on its release date two weeks ago and have already read it twice.
Since I picked up my first Wibberley-Siegemund-Broca book, I have been a huge fan. They seem to go just a little deeper with their characters than your usual romance authors.
In Never Vacation with Your Ex, the characters are so real, their issues and family dynamics, not to mention their heartbreak, are developed so intensely, I felt every nuance straight to my own heart.
On the surface, Kaylee and Dean have more than any two teens could expect—looks, talent, loving families, and the ability to love with the depth of the ocean beyond the beach house. Yet that ability to love family, friends, and one another—yes, no, maybe…--is what tears them apart, while the reader suffers and triumphs each step of the way.
After a string of excellent books, this is undoubtedly the best.

Historia
There Plant Eyes probes the ways in which blindness has shaped our ocularcentric culture, challenging deeply ingrained ideas about what it means to be “blind”. For millennia, blindness has been used to signify such things as thoughtlessness (“blind faith”), irrationality (“blind rage”), and unconsciousness (“blind evolution”). But at the same time, blind people have been othered as the recipients of special powers as compensation for lost sight (from the poetic gifts of John Milton to the heightened senses of the comic book hero Daredevil).

Better than anticipated.
Revisado: 06-25-21
I expected this book to be good from a snippet I got to read before the release. The book exceeded all expectations. Godin applies her considerable talents and intellect to create a book of history and personal experience; culture and social science; humor and advocacy to provide the reader with an understanding of the myths and realities of being a blind person from B.C.E, to the 21st century.
If you wish to have your assumptions challenged or wish to expand your education of everyone from the legendary Homer to Dare Devil, to Stevie Wonder; from Milton, to Helen Keller, this book is worth your time. You will put the book down with your heart and mind changed.

Another Great Read
Revisado: 11-05-19
I have been a fan of this series since I stumbled across the first book. Not one of the mysteries has failed to entertain me. The protagonist thinks, and often says, exactly what most of us do when dealing with unpleasant people, and makes me laugh.
In this latest installment, Breathy once again deliveries a mystery with entertaining characters and a few twists along the way. And although Lindsey has a regular cop boyfriend, she isn't getting inside information from him to solve the mystery, as is all too common. In fact, he plays a minor role, saving us from the lovey-dovey interactions that drag down too many mysteries where the protagonist has a steady other. On the contrary, Berneathy manages to introduce some conflict that is real and believable.
But back to the mystery part. I never like to say much so I give nothing away because part of the humor, and in this book, moments of poignancy at the same time one is laughing, are too delightful not discover on one's own instead of reading about them ahead of time.
I received a free copy of this book from the author, but was in no way obligated to give this review that fully endorses this book as a grand read. I did not ask for a copy and was fully prepared to buy it because I knew from experience I would not be disappointed. Far from it--I was delighted from page one on.

Historia
Returning to London after his honeymoon (For Deader or Worse), Bow Street Runner John Pickett soon discovers wedded bliss is not without its pitfalls, as he finds it galling to be financially dependent on Julia, his aristocratic bride. When he is summoned to the home of Lady Washbourn, Pickett finds he has something in common with the young countess: like himself, Lady Washbourn has married above her station and now finds herself adrift in a world to which she does not truly belong.

Marriage can Mean Murder
Revisado: 08-19-18
This is a masterpiece for Sheri. The writing is, as always, excellent, the humor subtle, and the action enough to keep us excited without wearing out us readers with angst. More so, however, is how Sheri depicts the relationship, the newly married status of John and Julia. Without going into detail, she nicely shows their physical passion for one another, and the passion of their personalities. The conflicts between them are not at all contrived, and the way the two argue is so realistic I found myself cracking up, while hurting for how their pasts hurt them and threaten their love for one another.
I stayed up half the night to finish it, something I do rarely any more. But it was worth the yawns the next day.
Yes, I guessed the villain fairly easily, and in the story, doing so is just not important. On the contrary, I couldn't wait for the moment of revelation.
Can't wait for Book 8. Some interesting days ahead for our protagonists.

Historia
Life has a way of provoking us with traffic jams and computer malfunctions, with emotionally distant partners and crying children - and before we know it, we're upset. We feel terrible, and then we end up saying and doing things that only make matters worse. But it doesn't have to be that way, says Pema Chödrön. It is possible to relate constructively to the inevitable shocks, losses, and frustrations of life so that we can find true happiness. The key, Pema explains, is not biting the "hook" of our habitual responses.

Nonsense
Revisado: 04-09-18
Would you try another book from Pema Chödrön and/or Pema Chödrön?
Absolutely not
What was most disappointing about Pema Chödrön’s story?
The delivery was pretty boring, and the content sounds good on the surface, but, essentially, is for the privileged classes, not people who have to deal with the ordinary world.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Her delivery is dull and halting and so unemotional she sounds like she's medicated.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Not really.
Any additional comments?
Where she really lost me was when she talks about people being basically good. Really? Sociopaths are basically good? I don't think so and if she does, she is truly isolated from reality. The second place she lost me was with the carma nonsense. If someone spits on me on the street, it's not because I did something seven thousand lifetimes ago; it's because they are wacked in the head. How can so many people give this 5 stars? Sheeple. Sure. Let that mosquito bite you and be patient. Let that husband hit you and be patient. It's just his nature to bite or hit. Be patient with the bigoted. It's just their nature. Don't try to make waves. This is anti progress. Without anger, injustices would not be fouht and diminished. I am a pacifist and hate war, but I also think some things are worth fighting for and fighting is the only way to bring about change.

I love the fact that Julia is the active sleuth in this book. This is probably more romance then mystery, and I figured out the villain pretty quickly; however, those factors do not diminish from the pleasure I received from reading this book.
Although I received a copy of the book from the author, I was under no obligation to give it a favorable review.
