Historia
They were the last great band of the '60s and the first great band of the '70s. They rose, somewhat unpromisingly, from the ashes of the Yardbirds to become one of the biggest-selling rock bands of all time - and eventually paid the price for it, with disaster, drug addiction, and death.

Great Listen for Zeppelin Fans
Revisado: 07-08-19
Simon Vance's treatment of the monologues is amazing. The story is very compelling. This is one of those books that made me look forward to my commute. Being a Led Zeppelin fan who only listened to the music, getting the back story was awesome.

Historia
Number one New York Times best-selling author Michael Moore returns with his first major book in eight years - a blend of memoir, history, and politics that only he could write. "I had an unusually large-sized head, though this was not uncommon for a baby in the Midwest. The craniums in our part of the country were designed to leave a little extra room for the brain to grow in case one day we found ourselves exposed to something we didn't understand, like a foreign language, or a salad".

Very Entertaining!!
Revisado: 10-25-11
I was skeptical that I would like an autobiographical book, even though I'm a huge Michael Moore fan. However, the stories are as captivating as any audio book I've ever listened to. Moore is an awesome author-reader right up there with Frank McCort. He adds much production value to the reading both with his adjustments to the text for the audio format and awesome sound effects (especially the bomb blasts).
I highly recommend this audio book on its own merits. But if you are looking for American history from the perspective of a person from the middle in the 60's and 70's, this book is a must-listen.

Historia
Carson McCullers was all of 23 when she published her first novel, The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter. She became an overnight literary sensation, and soon such authors as Tennessee Williams were calling her "the greatest prose writer that the South [has] produced." The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter tells an unforgettable tale of moral isolation in a small southern mill town in the 1930s.

Great Book - Fantastic Narration
Revisado: 03-17-10
Five or so years before she received a well-deserved Best Actress Emmy for her work on 24, Cherry Jones narrated this wonderful piece of American fiction. Her interpretation of all the characters is incredible. One really gets a sense of the emotion of each person portrayed, and, very importantly, in a manner that reflects the time. One note to prospective readers would be to recognize that much of the content is in subtext and various hints rather than overt statements.

Historia
This classic statement of economic liberalism or the policy of laissez-faire was first published in 1776. It is an engrossing analysis of the economic facts of life. Several fundamental principles, many of which are now referred to as axioms, were introduced in this work, the division of labor, supply-and-demand, and free market capitalism being among the most obvious.

Little entertainment, lots of education
Revisado: 05-06-06
Having heard, for years, about Adam Smith and the "invisible hand" from free market protagonists, I decided to hear for myself exactly what this author had written. Wow. His writings are taken out of context to the point of being unrecognizable. That "invisible hand" simply means that when people are industrious, they are contributing to the entire society despite working for their own gain. That`s it. End of story. It does NOT mean that making a profit at any cost is justified, as most quoters would have their listeners/readers believe.
For other listeners, only take on this book if getting a first hand account of a great thinkers words will have meaning. Audible HAS to offer a better quality version, though.

EXCELLENT!!
Revisado: 03-26-05
This is a very captivating story and very well read by Anna Fields. The mixture of viewpoints makes it very interesting. While the characters are very human, I wanted the story to go on. Anna Fields ranks among the best narrators I have heard (A Beautiful Mind was also excellent).

Historia
Like teacher, like pupil? On September 18, 1917, Aldous Huxley, 23, was hired as a schoolmaster at Eton, where he counted among his unruly pupils Eric Arthur Blair, better known to the world as George Orwell. Each would later write strikingly similar depictions of a bleak future for humankind: Brave New World (Huxley) and 1984 (Orwell).

Excellent Listen!!!
Revisado: 01-16-05
This is an excellent novel with an equally excellent or better performance by Michael York. The work itself is a major piece of Western cultural fabric. Since listening to this book I have run across several allusions to it that would have been lost except for the experience of listening to this audio book. York's rendition makes that listen very enjoyable. He is able to get right to the core of characters whether they be altruistic or evil. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting an exposure to great literature that has been well executed as an audio work. If you do decide to listen to it, just remember that it was published in 1932, long before any of its contents became technologically possible - which they all are, now.

Excellent Book and Presentation
Revisado: 04-22-03
This book is a great stand-alone history of mathematics in its own right and worth the investment for that alone. The addition of a thorough biography of an interesting person is quite a bonus. The reader's presentation is, for me, flawless as she captures the mood of the text very well and makes the passages on extremely complex math come to life (along with Nasar's help). I strongly recommend this audio book.
