Historia
The prestigious Legionnaire Academy of Du Gok Bhong—an institution centuries old and one I never thought I'd qualify for, much less attend. Yet here I am, a Gold Bracket contender and 8th Tier Core Realm Cultivator, starship-bound to compete with the thousands of other tributes from the occupied colony worlds across the stars. For most, it's a death sentence. For me, it's my one chance to gain the imperial status I need to liberate the Earth and marry the girl I love.

Historia
When the cultivators came to Earth, they destroyed our entire civilization in a matter of hours. Armies fell, cities burned, and that was before the moon turned red and filled our world with monsters. Now, over a decade later, what's left of humanity slaves under the heels of our Qi-infused masters. The luckiest of us might even become one of them, they say—if we serve the Dynasty well enough and harness the power of Qi. But I want none of that. I'm sick of serving, and I want nothing to do with their world. Instead, I want them to pay for what they did to mine.

Fun story
Revisado: 01-06-25
Just finished a couple hard core books and needed something fun and light. This book fit the bill. Decent LitRPG story. Nothing out of this world but still good. But I gotta say… the way the narrator read the female voices was wild. Apparently, every female character in this book was Sloth from the Goonies… but with a weird asian accent. First of all, although these characters are of asian decent, they were all raised by alien Kung-Fu Masters (I know… lol) , and therefore, all speak the same language. Why the accent!? Second, if you can’t do a good female voice, that’s fine… but why make them sound like a drunken sailors? Anyway, I can usually shrug stuff off but this was exceptionally annoying and made the story hard to enjoy. Great make voices though.

This book is just pure happiness.
Revisado: 12-16-23
Does Will Wight write his dialog with Travis Baldree's delivery in mind? Simply perfection... I just finished book 5 of the Sun Eater series which is a pretty dark and heavy story. I needed something fun and light hearted and as if the Aether itself answered my prayers, this book was released! I was surprised as I wasn't expecting it until 2024 but a pleasant surprise indeed. It's a great follow up to the first book and just a good time. Fun, fast paced story, as you would expect from WW.. and just entertaining as hell to listen too. Laughed out loud a few times which rarely happens when I listen to books. Travis Baldree is fantastic as usual!

Ugh…. Is the next book out yet??
Revisado: 06-05-23
This series just keeps getting better and better. I couldn’t stop listening to it. Even opting to listen to the story during my workouts rather than my Spotify playlist. Very much at the expense of my workout… lol. I went ahead and listened to the first 2 books of “Street Rats of Aramoor” and I’m glad I did. I will continue that series since it’s also very good. You don’t absolutely have to though in order to follow this book. However, it will certainly enhance your experience I believe. Ayrion is very much the central character in this book, which I appreciate since he’s my fav. And the fact that he teams up with Ferrin, my second fav, makes it that much better. Their storyline is def the most interesting while Ty and Adarra’s are good, but feel more like “filler episodes.” Doesn’t take away from the overall enjoyment of the book though. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long for the next one!

Great series!
Revisado: 05-23-23
10 stars to the Narrator. She is clearly a trained actress. There was a moment in the book where Sirileth has an emotional breakdown and the way it was read almost made me cry…. I don’t cry. Lol. I have a hard time saying whether or not I liked the way a book series ends… especially if I like the book series. Because even if it ends well, there’s this bitterness to the fact that it’s the end. So, I very much felt that way here.. I think the climax makes sense considering all things. Definitely worth the credit!

Revisado: 03-28-22
They only reason that I would recommend not starting this series is if can't stand the thought of starting a great series, that isn't complete, and waiting on the next books... Otherwise, I have thoroughly enjoyed all three of these books. Great characters, awesome action, and the narration is superb. Only problem now is waiting on book 4...

Not Bad
Revisado: 03-05-22
Overall, I would say this was a "good" series and worth the credit. The story does trudge along at times. In truth, I almost gave up on it half way through. I am however glad that I stuck with it. The third act of the third book is definitely the most engaging and exciting. I think it's important to point out that this is not an incredibly feel good ending. A lot of people in the reviews hated it. I didn't think it was so bad. But it helped me to know going into it that it wasn't going to be the typical happy ending. If I had been expecting one, I think I would have been disappointed. Listening to the author's message at the end helped me understand why the story ended the way it did.
The Narrator is pretty good. He doesn't have a huge range of voices so sometimes it was hard to know who was talking as they all sounded similar but after some time, you do catch the nuanced changes in pitch. Narrating is hard. I would never say someone did a bad job just because they are not a master of voices. Lol.
Definitely not the best series I've listened to but again, if you are looking for "bang for your credit", it's three books in one and worth the listen IMO.

Not horrible…
Revisado: 11-21-21
I was hesitant to waste a credit on this book due to the reviews but I’ve enjoyed this story and its characters enough to want to see what was next. Honestly, I didn’t hate it! It does seem like a “filler episode”. I feel like book 3 and 4 should have one book. The ending is random and abrupt like everyone says. Again, if you plan to continue with the story, its worth a listen so you know what is going on but don’t expect to be blown away with plot. Its all set up.
